notes
THE NEW YORK TIMES
"A friendly, warmhearted singer . . . Ms. Asher's storytelling instinct and pop-country manner mesh into what might be described as twang-free down-home singing."
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS
"Asher sings with a voice that's as beautiful and crystal-clear as Waterford glass!"
VARIETY
"Lisa Asher has a glow in her impassioned voice!"
THE VILLAGE VOICE
"If Bette Midler and Bonnie Raitt ever decide to record their own "Trio", Lisa Asher could round out the grouping. Of the current New York performers, Asher may be the one most confidently poised to break into the bigger time!"
BACK STAGE
"She electrified the stage from opening to encore, a thrilling, exciting raw talent with unlimited potential - this, my friends, is one voice to be reckoned with and recorded on a major label. Lisa Asher is among that small number of performers destined to climb to the top in the music business!"
TIMEOUT NEW YORK
"Lisa Asher delights her fans with an original blend of folk, rock and pop, all with a seamlessness that suggests she's just on the brink of major stardom!"
Liner Notes from Lisa Asher Live at The Duplex
I have had the opportunity of performing in large theatrical and concert venues around the country - and believe me, singing in a theater like Town Hall in New York is a wonderful thrill. But my heart and soul always come back to performing in small cabaret rooms. The intimacy, the connection with the audience, the honesty - it's an experience like no other. I did a 9 week run of this show in the summer of 2004, and what you are listening to is exactly what you would have heard at the club - no editing, no re-mixing, no retouching! You will experience my animated lively audiences, my wonderful band, the clinking of cocktail glasses, intimate whispers from one person to another, the rumble of the subway train - it's all here! We felt that releasing a live CD which incorporated all these elements would be the best way to share this music. So enjoy - and when you have finished listening to the CD pick up your local paper or look online for music happening in your town and go out and experience someone LIVE!

Lisa's voice is a rare combination of pure talent and emotion.
author: David Heckert & Fred HeinrichsLisa Asher's newest CD is absolutely fantastic. Lisa's voice is a rare combination of pure talent and emotion. Hearing a CD where the artist can actually sing is hard to find...let alone a live recording!! Producers Jeff Waxman and Lisa herself deserve a standing ovation for this CD!
Blowing Holes in the Back Wall of the Room
author: JOHNNY NEILLOnce again, Lisa shows us all what a consummate singer she really is, and her ability to blow holes in the back wall of the room! She has a tremendous stage presence, and a stand and deliver quality that is un-matched anywhere. Hard to feel this with a live recording, but this one comes through. Great material, (hard to go wrong with Michael Smith), and a great band (killer piano)! Keep 'em comin', Lisa!!!
