notes

"These days, with so many solipsistic, narcissistic singer-songwriters who are seemingly unable to sing about anything but themselves, it’s refreshing to encounter a performer like Liz Pappademas. The pianist — formerly of the Austin band Hurts to Purr and later based in San Francisco — recently relocated to Los Angeles and just released a collection of artful, intelligent original ballads, Eleven Songs." - LA Weekly

Austin musicians Gary Newcomb (Richard Buckner), Jeff Johnston (Bill Callahan), and Rob Sanchez (Monahans) contributed pedal steel, bass, and drums respectively. They add to the haunting quality of many of the songs on the record, which address such subjects as love (Vacation Romance), murder (The Born Again April Fool) and film criticism (Desaturate It).

Brian Kehew (Fiona Apple, Eleni Mandell) mixed the record, and helped add some final touches, including Mellotrons and Chamberlins.

Another great record...strong piano-driven melodies, sad and beautiful lyrics with a voice to match. Nice, complementary use of different types of keys and vocal effects.

  • great service, enjoy the music
