notes
Elizabeth Lorrey lives for music... whether she's writing, performing, recording, or just curling up on the couch to listen to something new... Music is a constant companion, never relegated to the background.
An obsessive student of the creative process, Elizabeth immerses herself in every aspect of her art:
- writing the music & lyrics
- performing nearly every instrument on the record
- engineering the recording
- designing artwork
- even burning/printing/folding/assembling cds!
The one instrument she won't touch? The drums.
After four years of working with Greg Tourian in their alt-rock band, Crave, it was obvious that no one could be more passionate, creative, and tasteful behind a drumkit.
Together, Elizabeth & Greg approach music with a Samurai philosophy: never draw your sword unless you intend to use it... There is purpose to every note they play.
With Greg providing the infectious backbeat, 'Gone' is Elizabeth's first single as a solo artist, & the first cut off her forthcoming, full-length cd... A grooving, acoustic gem, and a taste of what's to come...
'Now' is a solo-acoustic version of another album track- just Elizabeth & her guitar- one mic, one take.
Elizabeth penned 'The Wild Rose' as a gift for her sister, who recently built a cabin retreat in the mountains... Its jangling guitars, chugging snare drum, & soaring harmonies quickly became a fan favorite, so it's included as a bonus track...
Music exists to be heard... Give these songs a listen and see what you think!

rocks so much my ears fell off
author: leo "hugh" peelthe kind of music (no offense meant) you expect to hear on the WB (you know, like felicity, one tree hill, dawson's creek, etc). in fact, i'm going to start watching those shows (well, the one's that are still on the air) to see if i ever hear our elizabeth playing. seriously, it's got great melody, awesome vox, and the packaging is so fab! the kind of music you play after a breakup, that kind of good feeling stuff. *waits in great anticipation for the full length cd*
Gives new meaning to the term "singer-songwriter."
author: Dorothy WrightElizabeth gives new meaning to the term "singer-songwriter" as she seems to live and breathe her music. Her strong contralto perfectly complements the simple yet compelling melodies. Her lyrics speak to timeless and universal emotions. A big talent--these songs are ones you want to hear again and again. "The Wild Rose" in particular will hit home to many.
Songs that get under your skin
author: KTOWithin minutes, Lorrey's music nestles in and makes itself at home. The melodies are at once familiar and fresh. The lyrics are smart, appealing, and tell a good story. Listening to "The Wild Rose" is like talking to a good friend. This music will take hold of you... and you'll be glad it did.
Perfectly balanced vocals and instrumentals, and masterful songwriting
author: Maura“Gone,” with its hollow, haunting percussion, tempting musical phrases and vulnerable vocals, personifies the conflict between control, denial, and assured fate in the face of desire. Elizabeth’s moody vocals eloquently enrich the lyrics, and the lyrics themselves (“…now I’m tangled in your story, like I don’t know how it ends”) set a cynical yet desperate tone. I never tire of listening to “Gone,” releasing a deeper intensity of emotion and meaning each time I give it a listen.
Good stuff!
author: Mike LupoWhat can I say about this CD... It feels alot like Sarah McLachlan in that the lyrics are very heartfelt and emotional. The melodies and arrangements of the songs are captivating and the tunes are definitely catchy. You'll find yourself humming them when you're mind is on other things. The CD I have has only three songs on it. It left me hungry for more. My favorite song on the CD is the Wild Rose.
Gone is a wonderful song, your voice is strong and clear.
author: SangreBloomit shows your talent as a musican to offer such songs. it's got a beat and if flows nicly. rock on lady.
Haunting and passionate, you'll listen over and over.
author: Sue FrancesconiCarly Simon comes to mind, especially in Now. Music and lyrics are haunting and passionate. These are songs you'll listen to again and again. Buy it now, before it's "Gone".
Good sound, good lyrics...this cd has a great feel to it.
author: Kevin WaltherThis work feels very fresh and unique. The lyrics are meaningful and the sound and beat just flow together like water. Nice artistic quality on all tracks. A sound that draws you in and makes you think: "Who is that?" The last track Wild Rose is great "driving music" when you need to jump in the car and head off to where you find peace and joy. The song is about a place in the mountains but it can be anywhere you want it to be. It all works for me. I'm glad I own the cd.
