notes

We like to describe our music as "Jewish World Fusion," but you may have your own definition! Our songs are derived from Eastern European, Sephardi, and Middle Eastern sources, and performed in a contemporary style with a driving percussive backbeat. We sing in Hebrew, Yiddish and Ladino (Judeo-Spanish). Our performances provide an overview of Jewish culture and history, moving seamlessly from joyous Klezmer tunes to haunting Spanish ballads to rhythmic Israeli and Yemenite melodies.

We infuse traditional Jewish music with a modern sensibility.

The name of the band is derived from a Yiddish word meaning "someone from your town," or "kinsman." The Spanish/Ladino word Los is a reminder of the broad base of musical styles which we draw upon, and the fact that we fuse traditional elements with our experience in the modern world.

We are...

Hal Aqua: Vocals, guitar, oud, mandolin, and anything he can get ahold of with strings.
Ariella Lapidot: Vocals, Israeli Dance!
Alan Greenberg: Oboe
Miriam Rosenblum: Recorders, penny whistles, button accordion
Sherman Jacobs: Violin
Ira Sherman: Percussion, congas, dumbek, djembe
Michael Mendelson: Upright and electric bass, cello
