notes
singer of The Flying Neutrinos
Ingrid Lucia grew up in a traveling family band, gypsy style. She lived in buses, boats and tents for the first eighteen years of her life. She started out as a dancer, by the age of 8 she was singing in the band. Her early years she was traveling with a Mexican Circus, then off to the big time.
The Flying Neutrinos were born. Traveling and performing in Nyc, New Orleans and San Francisco. In her teens she lived in New Orleans in the winter months and worked on perfecting her craft.
At 18 she and her cousin Todd Londagin left the family band to make it in Nyc. She did that, making her first Cd in one day.(I'd rather be in New Orleans) which features Doc Cheatham.
Ingrid Lucia and The Flying Neutrinos next album (Hotel Child) was produced by Tommy Lipuma who has produced Barbara Streisand,Natalie Cole,Dinah Washington,Dr. John, Diana Krall, Miles Davis to name a few. Ingrids third record "Live from New Orleans" was recorded upon Ingrids return to the Crescent City in 2001. "Fortune" 2002 followed that. Ingrid wrote all but two songs on the record.
February 2004 Ingrid released her fourth CD "Almost Blue" produced by Tracey Freeman who produces Harry Connicks recordings as well as many others.

Ingrid Lucia and the Flying Neutrinos, Hotel Child
I first discovered the Neutrinos this summer in the jukebox at the Old Absinthe House on Bourbon Street. I was drinking, their music was playing, and the sound and surroundings blended seamlessly. Now, even in December, and even without the absinthe, putting on a Neutrinos disc turns my apartment into a New Orleans nightclub, heat, smoke, and all. Fueled by a core of Big Easy natives now based in the Big Apple, the Neutrinos make jazz that really swings and rolls. Some say the Ingrid Lucia sounds like a young Billie Holiday, and they're not wrong. She sings in a manner that is irrepressibly sultry, delivering clever or romantic lyrics with a knowing smile, and plaintive or somber ones with a perfect pout. Treat yourself to sound clips at flyingneutrinos.com, where there is also a tour schedule of their terrific live act.

Almost Blue
author: Karen TaylorVAVAVOOM!! I can listen to this one over and over...so Delish! Her diction and the smooth sounds get me home, relaxed and cool. Buy this one!!
Superb phrasing
author: Solitaire MilesIngrid is one of my favourite singers because I love her genuine and sassy interpretation of lyrics, and her languid phrasing. Most notable on this recording are "This Time the Dream's on Me" and "Almost Blue".
Great! Wished I'd known about her when I visited New Orleans
author: Jim HedrickEvery song on the CD is fabulous! Can't stop listening to it.
Refreshing singing at its best
author: Felix ProchaskaMiss Lucia's jazz-tinged singing is so self-assured, mature, natural, breath-takingly refreshing and performed with such perfection, that it is no overstatement to name her - together with her long time friend Madeleine Peyroux - in the front row of today's female artists. This is singing at its best! I’m anxiously and impatiently awaiting her next chef-d'oeuvre!

What a great piece of work!!! Her voice shines as a true example of New Orleans jazz!!! I hope she does many more albums of this quality!
So Sexy, and So Seductive for Miss Ingrid Lucia
author: Shawn WilliamsMiss Ingrid Lucia released her solo album Almost Blue, I think she is the sexiest and seductive jazz vocalist of all-time.
refreshing and hot
author: AllenThis CD was a great pick me up for a Neutrino fan that hasn't heard enough new stuff come out lately. The album is a real treat, the audio equivalent to a cool drink on a sultry summer evening. Ingrid's voice and style are featured in a tight and well produced package that will get lots of play time at our house.
Great sound
author: KrisShe's got a really unique voice - I can't get enough! The music itself is great but that's not what made me buy this cd. She has some quality to her voice that just makes you want more!! Fabulous!

This CD is realy great !! But the CD "Hotel Child" is even one step better. If you love the voice from Igrid, you must have both!!! I am from Germany and I can not understand that she is nearly unknown in this area :-( Good luck to Ingrid for her career also here in Germany. Best Regards Andreas ( meymein@t-online.de)

After hearing the previous album ("Fortune") it did not auger well for the follow up in Lucia's post Neutrino's period. While "Fortune" wasn't dreadful it wasn't neutrinos standard. This album however is truly excellent with sublime vocals from Lucia and inspired playing from the band. Her vocals will always be the highpoint and succeed in bringing a glistening life to a song that is both unique and up to the usual Billie Holiday comparison that may follow her but certainly do not insult her. A treasure of a collection. When is she coming to Scotland?

author: David Kunian The Gambit WeeklyIngrid Lucia Almost Blue (Ingrid Lucia Music) Vocalist Ingrid Lucia's new CD, Almost Blue, combines jazz, traditional, blues, and country into an easy swinging, pleasant set of songs. No matter what Lucia is singing, her voice possesses a sexy magnetism that invites the listener into her world and this lovely recording. Lucia's emotional range allows her to sound like a longing lover on "This Time the Dream's on Me," a bawdy harlot on "Sugar in My Bowl," and a whiny rich girl on "Sunday Afternoon." Her backing band provides the right amount of subtlety, especially guitarists Burt Cotton and John Fohl, whose comping chords, tasteful fills and mellow solos sound like early T-Bone Walker. Keyboardists Victor Atkins and John Gros on piano and organ, respectively, add a solid foundation that never takes away from the song or the singing. Lucia's three originals blend in well with the covers, impressive given that some of the other songwriters on this collection include Johnny Mercer, Ray Davies, Hank Williams and Elvis Costello. The record starts off with the bluesy resolve of the Lucia-penned "Hello Sunshine Goodbye Blues," with hornmen Mark Mullins and Mark Braud echoing Lucia's lyrics -- she's yearning for "sunshine to save me from those nighttime blues." "Let Me In" is a sexy Latin number, and "I Remember When" comes near the end with its surf country guitar and Southern California pop lilt. Lucia's originals fill out a set of well-chosen, well-played and well-sung covers full of romance and regret. -- David Kunian
