    FROM THE GET GO THE LUCKY STARE GET YOU MOVIN' WITH "RARIN TO GO" A ROLLICKING GOOD TIME OF TUNE, AND THE REST OF THE RECORD FOLLOWS SUIT WITH SOME OF THE FUNNEST SONG THIS SIDE OF THE MASON DIXON LINE. I HOPE THE WAIT FOR ANOTHER RECORD ISN'T GONNA BE LONG 'CAUSE I WANT MORE. DON'T MISS 'EM VIVA LAS VEGAS 2009!

    I really like this type of music and have been a fan of it for 30 years! This is a great album, but I was very disappointed to find out it is recorded monauraly (like the original recordings?). No explanation was given when I wrote to The Lucky Stars. Still recommended if that doesn't matter to you.

    The best Western Swing band at work today. I first discovered the Lucky Stars when I found their 45 in Austin at Waterloo Records. I was impressed then, and just as happy to find their first cd on ebay, but they have surpassed their previous efforts with this cd. Great musicianship coupled with absolutely brilliant lyrics make Stay out late the numero uno cd at my house for the last few weeks. Please come to England!

    The much anticipated second full-length album from The Lucky Stars. Sage, J.W., and the gang bust out some absolutely amazing numbers. If you are a fan of 30's and 40's vocal jazz...you need this album. I seriously rate this on musicality and general fun as one of the top 5 albums of the last 10 years.

    I first got the chance to listen to this CD when I was getting poked by my tattoo artist "Karina". She had it playing in the background. It was so awesome that when I got home I ordered it! Now it's in my cd changer in my car. It makes my long drive to and from work much easier to handle.

    Great old timey stuff, and lap steel fans, you need to get everything Jeremy Wakefield plays on. These include the two Lucky Stars CDs, one called The Hot Guitars of Billings and Wakfield, and his solo CD called Guitar Caviar. The dude's from another planet. This CD is just a lot of fun, with great playing, cool tunes and a trad sound that doesn't sound forced or inauthentic.

    Fun tunes with some great playing- These guys really know how to get that classic western swing sound- especially throwing the muted trumpet shadowing the solos- REAL NICE TOUCH- Am I in Love (Or Just Hungover) is a classic- as well as a few other gems on the disc- worth the $15!

    This band has become a force in the modern Western Swing genre. Very few do it as well and as consistantly. They are true to the music while many other bands have a tendancy to stray because of the pull of modern sounds. The lyrics are clever and the musicianship is top notch. Each song is infectous and leaves you wanting more.

    I've been looking forward to something new by these guys ever since I bought (and fell in love with) Hollywood & Western a year or so ago. Now, I think that H&W is a tad superior to Stay Out Late, but it's quite possible that with a few more spins this one could take the lead. This album's got it all; clever lyrics, astounding musicianship, great dynamics and honest-to-goodness swing. Of course, having Dave Stuckey in the band just increases my respect for 'em. Mr. Wakefield, too, come to think of it. If the Lucky Stars ever make the trek out to Detroit for a show or two, I'll stay out as late as they want to play. p.s.     Having grown up hearing stories of how my father danced the two-step every Friday night to classic Western Swing bands that toured around California in the 50's, the genre has always held a certain fascination for me. Listening to the Lucky Stars makes me understand what a blast my Pappy must have been having back then. This CD swings! If you like it, also check out their earlier release, "Hollywood & Western".

    This new album was highly anticipated. Imagine Sage Guyton’s hability to sing and write songs combined with Jeremy Wakefield on steel and the support of Dave Stuckey on drums, Wally Hersom on bass and Russ Blake on guitar. Well, if you’re into western swing this is the combination that would make your heart flip! And it does. The album opens with «Rarin’ to Go», the kind of song that takes no prisoner and you know you’re not just listenin’ to another album but a recording that could stand proudly near Hank Penny, Tex Williams or Bob Wills in your collection. This band swings, I mean REALLY swings, they don’t play country songs with steel on a rock beat, you see what I mean? All this album is a proof that Sage Guyton is not only a fantastic singer but a genius in term of writing songs. Of course you can expect clever lyrics (Teacher’s pet, Mama’s got the rundown dady blues to name but two) but Sage is more than a guy who writes funny tunes. Just listen to «Out of your mind» and «My poor old haunted heart» (and if you don’t cry on these one, you’re not realy human). JW sings the two covers of this album «the Tattooed lady» and Cindy Walker’s «Don’t count your chicken» and the records ends on the instrumental «Stay out late» that could have been recorded by the Western Caravan. But enough said, this record is an absolute must ! Fred Turgis
