Bumblefoot(GNR) and Singer Tony Harnell join forces on new CD!
Guns N’ Roses guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal has joined forces with Tony Harnell former TNT frontman and his unique NY based acoustic/electric band. Since leaving TNT in 2006 Harnell has continued recording both hard rock, metal and acoustic rock albums and has been performing his entertaining acoustic set to sold out crowds around the New York City circuit with his current line up which features guitarist Jason Hagen, Amy Harnell (vocals/percussion) and newest member Cassandra Sotos (TSO, Mark Wood), on 7-string electric violin.
The two met 20 years earlier when Tony was forming a new band after TNT took a break in 1992, and in Jan 2012 Ron and Tony were reunited at the NAMM convention in L.A. where the two started discussing the possibility of working together.
After Ron attended one of Tony’s recent performances in August, which Thal proclaimed was “the best acoustic show he had ever seen”, Tony, being a fan of Ron’s other-worldly and original fretwork asked if he’d like to join him on the project and contribute to his EP which was already underway. Harnell states, “in addition to Ron’s superhuman and beautiful guitar playing, he also happens to have a great voice and writes amazing songs which will greatly add to this project both live and in the studio. Thal has also been a longtime fan of Harnell's songwriting and vocal artistry, so the new coalition seems more than natural.
The group launched a successful Pledge Music campaign, which allows the fans to contribute to and watch the making of the EP. A portion of the proceeds from the campaign will go to Breast Cancer Research. With the new lineup and EP on the way, the group will tour nationally and internationally under the name, "Tony Harnell and the Wildflowers featuring Bumblefoot."
The project already has shows booked in Vegas and Europe as well as the prestigious, soon to be re-opened Cutting Room in NYC which has relocated and is being touted as one of the coolest new venues in the city.
Harnell and Thal have also been discussing other plans for a full electric band and have already started to reach out to some well-known musicians to join them. “That’ll manifest after the acoustic EP which is due out in early 2013.”
Tony Harnell’s voice is likely the most powerful one you’ll discover this year. Or should we say rediscover. With nearly 30 albums under his belt, he’s no stranger to the world of rock and has a distinctive voice with a range and strength that few others can achieve. Tony brings decades of stage experience – most notably as the lead singer of the Norwegian hard rockers TNT, during their most successful years – as well as a multitude of distinguished awards. Among them are numerous gold and platinum awards; sold out concerts worldwide; 5 top requested MTV videos; as well as a Grammy in Norway for “Rock Album of the Year”. Recently Tony was asked to be an ambassador for the Time Is Now Peace summit which will hold a series of arena concert events throughout Europe to promote peace in the Middle East. He also is connected to various charities including Breast Cancer Research and Thyroid Cancer Research. The beauty of the human voice, particularly in one so talented and diverse, is that it continues to grow and Tony taps into new and old influences alike to bring a richness found only in those who truly evolve. As one of his fans recently said “most voices, I just hear – and like or don’t like – but Tony’s voice you feel. It buries into your soul and rests like a nugget of musical gold.” If you haven’t heard Tony sing recently, prepare yourself to be impressed. Driven by his life-long love of music – not the fame - he pulls his listener in with his warm and honest approach and personality. Hearing Tony live is anything but commercial, indeed one leaves feeling as if they’ve been invited to a private affair and blessed by the voice of genius. You may not yet have heard of Tony Harnell, but once you do, you’ll never forget him. Be careful, he may just become your new favorite singer, it happens all the time! Look for concerts and brand new music in 2012!

Train Keeps A'Rollin
So stunned by this album-not that I didn't expect something great from Tony Harnell-but there was just so much more to it than I expected. It's such a sublime journey-not a weak song on it. Your CD collection is incomplete if you don't have this album.
Truly Amazing Talent!!
I've been following Tony's work quite some time, and this album, by far, goes way beyond what you may expect. Pure - Real - Talent - Musicians.
The pure sound of Tony's voice, with Amy's backing vocals brings a sense of raw emotion you can hear in each song. The guitar work by Jason & Bumblefoot and the killer violin by Cassandra brings it to another level - stripped down an clean allowing you to hear ever note makes the entire album amazing.
By far, one of the best ever!
Natural Evolution of a True Artist
I was blown away by this EP as it brought a whole new different side of Tony to the table. Yes the voice is still amazing, the incredible notes are there but there's an incredible amount of depth in this music as well.
Led by the sheer strength of Tony's songwriting partnership with the highly talented Jason Hagen which has produced some of the strongest music in Tony's career as well as his newly found addition, the incredible Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, this music may very well be the best of Tony's illustrious career.
Along with Tony's amazing vocals, you have the Hagen/Thal guitar combo - 2 virtuosos who completely complement each other. This can be seen on tracks like "Paralyzed" and "Devil of a Healer" where both shine. But the real discovery is the amazing Cassandra Sotos on the violin. Sotos is a superstar in the making who can channel Paganini at will as well as add tastefully beautiful passages to the music.
Which leads me to the vocals, Tony has never sounded better, but the Wildflowers also feature the beautiful vocals of his lovely wife, Amy Harnell (side note - if these 2 ever have an offspring, he or she will be the greatest singer in History) - Amy's hauntingly beautiful vocals on "Burning Daylight" are a definite highlight. Bumblefoot also provides amazing harmony vocals to go with his tasteful guitar wizardry.
And the songs, all are unique and cover a wide spectrum - from Zeppelinesque rockers to haunting ballads - the one constant is Tony's honest songwriting and lyrics as he shares a piece of his soul with us on every song. This is quite evident in the beautiful "Get Up Again" (written for his mother) as well as the self-reflective, Lennonesque "Wouldn't Be Human" (where Tony serenades us, guitar in hand). With this EP, you get 9 great songs from a true artist who refuses to stay in his comfort zone and continues to grow - and we're the better for it! Must Buy!!
