"James Taylor sometimes deceives himself into thinking he's got the blues. If Sweet Baby James actually had them—or, more accurately, understood them—he'd probably sound a lot like guitarist Marty Christian" - Offbeat Magazine, New Orleans

notes
Blues musician and songwriter Marty Christian moved from Austin, TX to the French creole lands of Lafayette, LA when he joined up as the guitarist for Thomas “Big Hat” Fields’ Zydeco Band in 2003. There he began to focus on his own songwriting and powerful acoustic shows that blend original songs with the sounds of Louisiana, Texas and the spirit of the Delta Blues.
Marty started his musical life as a Blues radio show host in his hometown of Cleveland, OH. He took his love for the music a big step further when he formed his first Blues band in Besançon, France in 1990. He would perform for two years in France before eventually settling into Blues-rich Austin, TX. In Austin, Marty began performing an eclectic mix of material in electric Blues trios, Instrumental original bands and finally drifting towards the beloved Austin songwriter’s tool, the solo acoustic guitar.
Since Bluesicana’s release, Marty has traveled the country as a solo artist, performed in Spain and opened for Spencer Bohren, Grayson Capps, Toni Price and more - His shows have brought audiences a passionate vision of Blues-based music - one that involves understanding the past while forming a way to the future!

CD never wears out
author: Merit CooperThis is a great cd that makes you dance and move around when you hear it. Marty Christian is an excellent singer and person. I have seen him play a few times and was always pleased with his performances. He has such a soulful voice. His has a sparkling personality and it comes out in his music. He also plays a mean guitar.

Marty Christian is an excellent writer and great talent!!!
author: Philip BrideweserAfter listening to a sampling of this CD online, I knew I was going to buy it....and did so immediately. The quality of the recording is very professional and the music which it contains most excellent. What a refreshing sound and style. Eric Clapton said blues is the hardest music style to play because you have to reach so far within yourself to bring it out. Bluesicana most certainly showcases a heartfelt talent who is passionate aabout his art and Marty has indeed tapped into that part of self that Clapton was talking about.
Great energy on this cd! What a talented musician/singer! Lucky I found this art
author: stinkerbugFound the range of selections to be especially nice...great instruments and very intelligent lyrics...hope to see much more from this artist in the future
