notes
In an era of serious Singer-Songwriter's with overly pretentious lyrics, Meade Skelton keeps it simple and sincere. But thats not to say his music is frivilous. Meade is a Singer's Singer. He has a unique voice you recognize right away, like Sinatra or Elvis. Born April 8th, 1979, in Virginia, he grew up playing the piano and singing by age 3. He performed at school plays and talent shows. He wrote songs and sang them all around the region. In 1998, he moved to his late mother's hometown of Richmond. A few years later he began playing with various bands around town and joined the floating folk festival, and other groups of singers and songwriters. He sang with the Tabernacle Baptist Church. Meade has now become a well known figure in the music scene in Virginia, and continues to spread his mix of folk, country, gospel, and quirky yet sincere lyrics and powerful voice.

Sweeter than chocolate.
author: William WonkaHe's got the voice for candy making. Too bad he's too tall to sing w/my boys. He has songs that make evil children want to cry.
Love it!
author: Peter PepperDig those heavy riffs, MEade! And I love that old-skool heavy metal holler! If only you could tone down the satanic imagery on your next CD, please. It's scaring my cats!
Praise Allah for Meade!
author: Osama Bin LadenMeade should come down my cave and give me a personal concert that be sooooo awesome. I will invite my good pal George W Bush along as well.
GREAT!!
author: DeppslovergirlI'm from the IMDb boards. Loved "Dear God" and "Can't Keep Me Down". Great voice Meade. Wish the CD was here in Canada! It would be in my collection for sure! Tara Starr
Very competent and impressive work
author: jim mccomishMeade's voice has great power & texture. His music would have universal appeal if given the right exposure. Transcends musical barriers & would be appreciated by fans of many musical genres, outside of country. Some tracks bring to mind Queen of the late 70's & early 80's. Great humour tinged with tragedy. A lot of people may not "get it" with Meade's humour, which is mostly self depracating.
A genuine pleasure
author: NelI enjoyed this CD even more than I expected. A great voice, and great songs, too. Not many can do both! "Down Like a Rock" is my personal favourite - a fun song & an excellent performance.
Wonderful Voice !
author: Nicole K.Although, I'm not a Country Music Fan, I love Meade Skelton's way with a phrase and his rich expressive singing voice. His songs are catchy and dynamic, possibly the best out of this Genre I have ever heard. I enjoy listening to it my dressing room in between takes, and all my co-stars enjoy it too ! I'm sure Meade will be a big name in no short time!
you certainly have talent!
author: pangea-2hey, it's pangea-2 from IMDb...the music itself isn't my style, but you have a great amount of talent! your voice is very strong and robust. I like it! keep up the good work. PS-love the "Love to eat" song. lol.
So much good here, it's scary
author: Robert Stutler, Richmond Music Journal, December ,2003There's so much good about this CD it's scary. Meade's keys are superb. His songs are deep and meaningful with familiar themes. The arrangements are excellent, and Meade's full resonating vocals hit the majority of the time. I think Meade may very well be one of the best things to come out of Richmond.
Easy On The Ears
author: Ames Arnold, Style Weekly"Meade Skelton doesn't miss the mark at all. He has a very easy on the ears singing style, and his keyboard playing is rudimentary, but worthy. His country-music roots are very respectable. The band kicks in with heart, with guitar riffs throughout. Although a bit heavy- handed lyrically, this CD is a fine product."
Meade should be the toast of the town
author: Richmond Music Journal, September, 2003Meade Skelton has a strong, clear voice and writes those quirky, sensitive lyrics that Nashville loves.
A Vocal Treasure
author: Patsy- Winchester, VAMeade's beautiful voice is the jewel of this CD. The songs are very good and cleverly written- almost quirky at times. But it is his magnificent Tenor voice which really has me hooked. He doesn't sing with that annoying twang like most male Country vocalists, like the vibrato in Opera- he only uses it where needed. Instead, his singing is very theatrical and convinces me that his words are from the heart. I'm so glad I bought this CD.
It's official: I love Meade !!
author: Laura B.I got this album and I have to say I really love Meade's voice. He truly is a real singer and not just another Country Cowboy like a Tim McGraw or Kenny Chesney. His songs are intelligent, bordering on brilliant. I love the way he sings each song differently, too. A lot of singers are just one note or emotion in each song (ala' Dave Matthews), but this boy knows HOW TO SING!! It's almost as though he acts each song out, and sings it in a very theatrical way. This is why he makes me like the most Country of songs "Your Old Hay"- because otherwise this hick ho-hum diddy would do nothing for me, but the way he sings it really brings it to life in a comical way. I love each song on the CD, because NOT ONE OF THEM IS THE SAME! BUY THIS ALBUM,IT'S WAY BETTER THAN WHATS ON THE RADIO THESE DAYS!!
Good Style and Songs that Inspire
author: Major Randy Haufe , GermanyIf Elton John went Country, this is what he would sound like. This album is a great mix- with even classic Country sounds, but it has intelligence and modern sensibility to it. There are songs for every taste- fast, slow, funny, sad. And the style is great. It's that piano/vocal style of Elton John mixed with good musicians on the rhythm sections. I really like Meade's voice. It's clear and distinct. Unlike most Country singers you hear on the radio, Meade doesn't sing with twang, or a phoney country voice. His singing has the conviction of Johnny Cash, and the timbre of John Denver. I think this kid is going to go far. Even my wife likes it, and she loathes anything remotely Country!
There's a song to suit every mood.
author: GretchenI really like this CD. A friend gave it to me, and although I'm not really into Country Music, I was not dissapointed. Meade's voice is tremendous. He can croon on one song, and belt it out the next. I love the variety. I'm a fan of 80's music, and there's even some 80's tinged songs like the title track "They Can't Keep Me Down" and the lyrics are to the point and honest, and not pretentious. "Don't Rock This Boat" is another favorite, and "Your Old Hay" is a very good satire in the traditional Country vein. I love every song. There's variety, and it's very addictive.
