notes
"This guy sounds like Bruce Hornsby doing a pretty good imitation of Springsteen. Or is it Donald Fagen doing Sean Mullins? Its a bit freaky and so are his lyrics, but this is an incredibly well-crafted and seamlessly produced CD. James has a strong sense of whimsy and a funky rythmic style that is both fun and captivating." -Rob Dunne, Minor 7th Magazine, July-August, 2003
Here's a Brief Bio For You.......
Mike James has played the guitar since the age of seven (he ain't sayin' how old he is now, even though he's very handsome, and appears to be in his early twenties) and has had extensive experience in professional music production, as well as live performance, having shared the stage with many a fine picker including fluglehorn great Louis Gaska (Santana) and Hammond organ and trumpet monster Joey DeFrancesco (Danny Gatton, John McLaughlin etc.). Mike has opened shows for The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Ty Herndon, The Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Buddy Guy, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, The Stylistics, Matt "Guitar" Murphy (The Blues Brothers) and Chuck Prophet. Growing up in Colorado, and after winning four Colorado Composer Classic awards for his original works, Mike developed a rash and then moved to Washington state to study and ingest indigenous fungi. After that, he spent ten years in a Dazed state (Southern California) producing and receiving generous airplay for his original compositions in the jazz-fusion genre. Mike's diversity and vast range of styles, influence, instrumentation and fungus consumption remain in a constant state of morphisis. Mike was also lead guitar and vocals in the popular country band "Suzie Salmon & Rough-Cut", winning four Peoples Choice awards in SoCal, and taking "Band of the Year" honors in 1996. Mike now resides in North Idaho without a rash or any skin disorders whatsoever.
Mike says........."Please buy my CD and then come back and post an impressive review......I think you'll find the whole experience rather rewarding. Thank You."

This one's got legs
author: Gern Blanston - The Evening NewsI met this album recently on a road trip to Fairhaven. The tracks came at me from all angles like my girlfriend's hair in a love storm. I don't know what that means exactly but I know this album is good. By good I mean wild and rangy. Every song is exploratory, no not like that crazy jazz that sounds like a six-legged cat chasing rodents on a keyboard. I'm talking about that main ingredient that lacks so much in music today - ceativity - innovation with melody and groove, the real stuff. So next time I drive anywhere I'm taking this CD. No scratch that, it'll take me. And instead of driving I hope we walk, that way I have more time to spend with these great songs.
This CD has it all!- quality, originality, chops and humor
author: Jeffery Brown (keyboardist for West of 5)Wow - great tunes that stick in your head. Nothing boring or rehashed here. The industry needs to wake up and embrace this material - its too damn good to be ignored. The songs are well crafted, yet light-hearted. Great vocals and killer guitar work. More people ought to hear Mike James. I can't wait to see what he does on his next CD!
Amazing new promising talent,we've all been waiting for this!
author: Bruce SpringsteinI was actually stunned when first listening to this cd...Mike James definatly has what it takes to make it in the music world today...everyone deserves to hear him...and see him too!
