notes
CDbaby's reviewer says:
"Sick of all normal music? Can you appreciate music that doesn't have "notes"? The wonderfully sparse electronic noise will cleanse your palette. Primal, idiosyncratic, texture driven sound. Scary, delightful, ambiguous, clear, organic, metallic, glassy, wet, or prickly. I love how un-catchy this music is, so I can listen to it over and over again all day as I work, and never get sick of it."

m/n/m/l = hardcore minimalism, surreal experimental electronics. This is classic, primal, idiosyncratic, texture driven sound. The only instrument used is a Serge modular synthesizer, played expertly by me, John Papiewski, founder of the Serge fan's web site (www.serge-fans.com).
perpendicular twist is the first CD I released. Over a year went into its creation. tracks include 'alley', a raw exploration of clicks and noise. 'Sunshine' is a melodic serene daydream played in an unknown scale. 'Hips' growls and seduces with a voluptuous beat. 'Breath' wakes from a nightmare.
Who am I? A self-taught electronic music composer, a guy with a desire to do music in this particular style. See, I enjoy many different kinds of music but especially turned on by this experimental/abstract stuff, and there frankly just isn't enough out there, so I have to make more.
Spent a lot of my youth doing home recordings with tape recorders and homebrew electronics. In the mid-90's set myself up with a Serge Modular system and digital recording with the intention of creating freeform music. These are the results.

pure Serge-based glitter
author: Darwin Grossem/n/m/l's release will light up a set of headphones with pure Serge-based glitter. This experimental/ambient disc features a taste and maturity that few electronic musicians can approach.
Perpendicular Twist is a thoughtful CD
author: Nick WIlsonPerpendicular Twist by m/n/m/l is a collection of analog electronic music that delves into the almost limitless capacity of music/sound that a thoughtful musician and a 3 panel Serge modular can make. While the recording was made with just a few pieces of gear, most notably a 3 panel Serge modular, an 8-track hard disk recorder and a little digital reverb, m/n/m/l (a.k.a. John Papiewski from Chicago) creates a wide range of drones, textures, rhythms and sound events, distinct for each piece, that he fits into a unified album . He produces compositions that are thought-provoking; sometimes hard-edged, at times trance-like and highly listenable from beginning to end. Nick Wilson is one of the members of M.E.M.E., and specializes in bizarre tone creation using an electric violin. He can be reached at spacemodular@yahoo.com.
