notes
The Monday Blues Revue has been performing together in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania since 1997 when drummer Chris Monday, and his cousin, veteran live and studio guitarist Tony Watson reunited when Tony came back to Pittsburgh fourteen years after the two had first worked together musically. Tom Altes now joins the band on bass guitar.
This debut CD by The Monday Blues Revue features former members Mark Baratz on harmonica, Jack Brown on keyboards, and Jay Miranda on bass guitar and vocals.
The Monday Blues Revue spreads the gospel of blues learned by Watson from guys like Son Seals, Eddy Clearwater, and Melvin Taylor during his nine years in Chicago. These lessons added to his extensive classic rock, art rock, and jazz repertoire. Monday's live rock and jazz experience provides the rhythmic strength that is the foundation of the blues. Tom's versatility as a bass guitarist in classic rock, heavy metal, and country and western bands ensures variety in the rhythm section.
The members of the The Monday Blues Revue comprise a team that is greater than the sum of its parts by blending their diverse musical backgrounds with the intensity of their love of America's best known musical form. The result is an exciting, energetic, and entertaining blues feast.
The members of The Monday Blues Revue are specialists in modern and classic blues who perform their own "blues for what ails ya" as well as the music of legends such as Elmore James, Muddy Waters, Freddie King, Albert Collins, Johnny Copeland, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Robert Johnson, Buddy Guy, Charlie Baty, Robert Cray, and many others.
