  • Completely Original

I have honestly never heard anything like this Cd. If you're into the typical trombone/trumpet-led ska band, be prepared for something completely revolutionary. Most bands don't utilize the saxaphone with a lead role because they can't blend it right with the music. Monkey Jacket does with this Cd what other bands are far too afraid to even try, and they pull it off amazingly, also with the beautiful touch of keys. This is an album you are sure to love.

  • haha!! muscians = hott <3

All I can say is that I love the CD. I can't put it down and I can't wait for the next one.

  • Decent for a first cd!
    author: Natasha

The music on the cd has a lot of punk/ska influences, but mick says they dont label themselves as anything, so i cant just leave it at that. Buy the cd and you'll see what i mean!

  • This CD was all I expected and more.

I fell in love with Hello Solo the minute I heard it. So, I bought the album and I fell in love with the CD. It's the perfect combination of boppy ska music and catchy lyrics that will make everyone get up and dance.

I'm not really sure why I put off writing this for an entire year, but it might be because I've been searching for the words to say "I think I'm in love." I can't get sick of this album and still listen to it regularly. It's a carbonated fusion of ska and punk and the eighties and the future and...it's actually quite ridiculous. Smart harmonies, catchy melodies, clever lyrics. They've got a really full, dense sound and seem very talented at performing AND songwriting.

Monkey Jacket is the next Led Zepplin/The Doors/Beatles/Not-Micheal Bolton! Yayyyy!!! On a serious note, these guys are actually what my ska tongue has been craving... keep up the good work, get paid, and hire me to do lighting sets.

  • Sweet Album

  • Why can't I have three thumbs?

After pirating a few samples illegally, I decided to fork over the dough and support the artist. What a fantastic purchase was made. I tend to get bored of 10 songs playing endlessly in my car, but it just dosen't seem to be happening here. It's so freaking ska that you can't help but love it.

  • Nice Job Guys!
    author: Jeff

I'd have to say, I do like two of the songs on the cd. Great job Max and all the other band members who I don't know personally.

this cd sucks. i listen to it everyday and i know all the words to every song. i cant believe i paid 10 dollars for it. the bass player is really bad and he needs some lessons, for real.

  • This is really good.

Well, overall I thought the cd was OK but it lacked some of the crutial elements a well rounded album needs. First off, the horns lacked a certain punch that is necessary for pulling off the ska vibe. Some were well-written parts but they sounded like the same parts sometimes harmonized but mostly doubled to try and hide the lack of a full horn section. Next, the guitars were all over the place. In one song there was 100 different tones and layers of guitar, it ended up just jumbly sounding and mushy. The bass was not stellar, the parts were fairly basic. Once again thourghout the whole album, a wide range of different, confusing tones. The vocals overall were decent. Good harmonies but gayass melodies. Sometimes even sounding forced but still worked. The drums are sloppy and sometimes even out of time with the rest of the band. The keyboard parts were catchy, but basic. I also heard some inapropriate accidentals in a few of the songs. The only thing this band has going for them is some well-recorded, semi-catchy tunes. Maybe these boys should go back to the basement for some alone time with each other and sort this debacle out. And finally, I am a huge idiot.

  • i thought it was cool
    author: eric

i was impressed. lyrics were good, music was good, it was just an overall good cd. nice work guys.

  • top rate music
    author: james thayer

really good cd. like all the tracks except for one. really catchy too. ska-punk at its greatest.

  • It contained the necessary elements of awesomeness
    author: Peter Stoia

For a first release, this CD is really good. The artwork is cool, the songs are cool, everything is cool. I actually thought the title was a bit too long at first, but later I realized that the title of the CD is only a tiny piece of the whole thing. I would suggest getting this CD because Monkey Jacket contains the necessary elements required to be awesome!

  • A Touch of Hot Metal
    author: Wade Pressel

Monkey Jacket has been on the scene for a few years now and I know I've been greatly awaiting their first full length CD. Let's start with the song composition. A masterful composition written by Mick Maslowski is clear to see here. He also sings solidly and on pitch, on key, and in tune. The guitar playing is a solid mix of ska and rock, with a touch of metal. It could keep anyone rocking all night long. Next, the keyboard adds a touch of 80's pop that makes me smile like a school girl. The bass is pure perfection and the drums a piece of art. The horns support the entire mix and add to their ska sound. All in all, Monkey Jacket has produced quite the awesome CD. It's a fun mix of ska, rock, and hardxcore punk that could keep any man or woman or cat or dog dancing the night away.
