Absolutely Love the CD, Wonderful Sound! As well as Wonderful Music. Bouncing Water, 1inA, and JALD are the best track in my honest opinion.

Morwenna Lasko and Jay Pun play violin and guitar, respectively, in a style rooted in the tradition that also produced Flook. The Charlottesville duo's album, "Etopia," enlists a few guest players, but the most significant addition to the disc's mostly instrumental fare comes from Lasko and Pun themselves: their voices. The guitarist sings on only a few songs, and the violinist even less frequently, and always wordlessly. Yet such Pun tunes as the jazzy "Sad Times" and Lasko's scat vocal on "1inA" open things up nicely. "Etopia" is primarily a showcase for the twosome's instrumental skill, but it suggests a more expansive music to come. -- Mark Jenkins

  • Tracks like "1andA" and "JALD" hit the spot perfectly.

Jay Pun and Morwenna Lasko began the first notes of their set without introduction. I have to say that I'm tightly obsessed with the way Lasko plays a violin. She displays incredible attitude-- as if the instrument owes her something, and she has come to collect payment in full every time she strikes a note. Pun, on the other hand, just seems to conjure music from his guitar with little to no effort. The two of them lock into a rhythm that reveals the life in every song… Hats off to Pun, Lasko, and everyone involved in the project for making a long-awaited debut well worth the wait.
