In a nutshell, my music often gets compared to The Slits, The Raincoats, Young Marble Giants and Sleater Kinney.
I come from a riot grrrl background, but I also like good quality pop music like Pink, so my music is a mix of all these influences. The guitars are driving the songs, the keyboards play silly riffs, the drum programming is quirky, the voice is off-beat.
I used to release music under the name of RachelAPP but a few months ago, I decided it was time I use my real name, so I switched to Nat JM.

Instant pleasure
author: Frederic AmbroisineWhen you're a new artist, people will always compare you to other older or established artists to define and describe approximately your style. Nat JM herself says she sounds like a mix between Le Tigre and PJ Harvey. Other people says she sounds like The Slits, The Raincoats etc... But in my opinion, NatJM music sounds like nobody else except RachelAPP (who's the same person). Each of the five tracks of the "Manager EP" has something original and fresh. Each of them could be the main title of this EP. They're all different, none is better than the other, and they have something in common, Nat JM unique and energetic style. Her descontructed post-punk style seems to be well thinked and made with a high precision technique, but most of all, it gives you what is was made for when you're listening to it : instant pleasure.
