notes
Glenn and Betheny Dunlap met performing in music groups at Ball State University. The group Neapolitan began when a friend asked them to write a song for a local production company's 'calling card' movie. Recording the song with some great local jazz artists brought out the magic. They kept writing and arranging music and began to play in and around Indianapolis.
This debut album features original tracks, including "Walk in a Dream," a light swing tune with a deeper message, and "Cotton Candy Sky" a Vince Guiraldi-inspired love song. The album also mixes straight-ahead jazz tunes with the smooth sound of contemporary jazz. You'll hear old songs like "Body and Soul" done in a new funked-up way, and contemporary songs like "In Your Eyes" done with a smooth jazz-influenced flavor.
They wanted to make an album that would appeal to a wide range of people. It isn't complicated; it just feels good, no matter where or when you play it!
The Musicians:
Betheny Dunlap - Vocals
Glenn Dunlap - Piano, Keyboards
Frank Smith and Steve Dokken - Bass
Adam White - Drums
Charlie Smith - Guitars

Would like to hear more instrumental with the singing
author: David WeinschrottBetheny has a great voice - I like the songs a lot. On some tracks it seems like she attempts to sing the whole track. I would prefer hearing more of those other great artists in solos - along with the singing.
Very nice. Heard one of the numbers many times on Jazz Radio WICR - Indianapoli
author: Kristina Kamstra WilcherOrdered it for my professional musician son. We listened together and really enjoyed the lyrical creativity. Very nice. Thank you.
Original songs and several favorites quickly
author: Bill MinnisThe CD is great car driving music. It is very mellow and has the affect on the listener. Very articulate and clear so words and meanings are revealed. I find several of the songs very catchy and stay with me.
Great quality and mood adjustment capability
author: Tim SniderWow, after a long day, this CD helps reposition my mood....Cotton Candy Sky is my favorite and makes CD purchase worthwhile on its own! All Jazz stations should have this CD in their mix.
Excellent vocals, skilled accompaniment, top notch quality. Highly recommended
author: Steve ThrashYou can tell the artists have their heart and soul into the music. Particularly enjoyed the original tunes, Cotton Candy Sky my personal favorite, Walk in a Dream hits the mark - made for lovers, young or old. All with a message, refreshing and delivered with heart. Superb.
Wow...a must for those that love smooth vocals and tasty playing!
author: Bryan LubeckThe CD is now one of my favorites. It mixes the best of tasty jazz with a popular feel. The vocals are whispery elegant as if the singer is singing to you...the musician ship is incredible but doesn't overshadow - less is more. The remake of Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" is a must listen. But, frankly, it all is...just give the samples a quick listen to find out what I'm talking about!
easy listening, relaxing, laid back.
author: jeannie galbreathEasy to listen to and very relaxing. Catchy original recordings; you'll find yourself humming them all day. Good blend of musical selections having different feels and tempos. Nice balance between vocals and instruments. Silky vocals give new twist on old standards.
