notes

From the San Francisco Bay area, the Night Watchmen are a piano-based trio led by singer-songwriter-pianist Gentry Bronson. This is dramatic storytelling music to get lost in. Here's what critics have said:

"Gentry Bronson of San Rafael can see the future of the music business, one in which he hits it big without selling his soul to a big recording company."
- Dan Fost, San Francisco Chronicle

"Gentry Bronson, a new performer to Bread & Roses is a gem, an exceptional talent to entertain and represent Bread & Roses. I wish I had the correct words to tell you of his talent and his dramatic skills as he sings and plays the keyboard and captivates his audience. He isn¹t just singing and playing, he feels his music, his arms and hands wave, flinging in the air gracefully. The audience seemed under his spell. Most of his selections were his own songs he had written so they expressed love, passion, lost dreams, happiness and of course we all related to his every word. It was fantastic and the audience loved all of it."
- Lucia Whitney, Bread & Roses Producer

"Gentry's music covers the waterfront of beautiful losers and missed connections. His work is more generally accessible, though, even though it weaves in and out of traditional singer-songwriting, jazz and blues."

  • Unforgettable, Haunting Tunes
    author: Sherill (Amsterdam/The Netherlands)

Being used to Gentry singing solo (“HOME”), and his wonderful piano-only album (”TRANQUILLO’), it took me a while to get used to his music with the Night Watchmen, but I’m glad I took the time to listen to this album more often, and yes: this album surely is as good as the aforementioned albums. And of course as could be aspected, Gentry comes up with lyrics that are as ever powerful and meaningful. Memorable, truthful heartwrecking and recognizable tales. The band indeed delivers a great layer to make the songs shine brightly. Haunting tunes that stick. You’ll find yourself playing this album over and over and over again. So… all in all: an album that Kicks Ass. Hey you Guys: Keep it up!

  • Fantastic
    author: Scott K

A refreshing change of pace. Gentry comes across with feeling and not a lot of the standard appeal to the masses make a buck and run. A must have for every music collection. The music is excellant, everyone ties together.

  • Late night mind food
    author: Doug Jenkins

Talented playing and inspiring vocals. Pleasantly this is occasionally frenzied even absurd yet uncanny in its "life story" honesty it is surprising and fun at every turn. Great, moody introspective late night mind food...
