notes
Nora Whittaker (vocals, keys) captures the humor and heartache in the authentic stories and experiences she tells through her jazz/soul influenced original songs, performed with whimsical commitment and passion. "Other People's Secrets" was expertly produced by Mike and Josh from the Philadelphia-based band Love Syndicate and recorded at Studio 4 in Conshohoken, PA. The back-up band features Josh on guitar, Woody Sutton on drums, Chuck Treese on bass and Sean Whittaker on backing vocals. "Head to 55" also features Harold Dunn on fiddle.
What one fan said about "Other People's Secrets"
"..our household hasn't been so excited since we got a microwave and cooked a hot dog in 30 seconds!"
(Lillian Klupka, 2003)
Nora says...
"My songs are based on secrets and stories - mostly other people's secrets and stories. I seem to be the sort of person that people bring their stories to: both a blessing and a burden. These are often stories that I can't or won't communicate directly to anyone else. That would be tacky and rude! Some of these stories and situations, however, become so compelling to me that I need to express them somehow. So they become songs with altered names and details so I don't betray anyone's trust. Then the challenge is capturing the overall intricacy of each situation."
Currently based out of Philadelphia, PA , Nora plays in smokey bars, intimate coffee shops, colleges and more. She loves musicians like Stevie Wonder (Songs in the Key of Life), Patty Griffin, Joni Mitchell (during the 70s), Ella Fitzgerald, The Band, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead and others. But her favorite music experience has always been live concerts.

Other People's Secrets speaks with candor and honesty
author: Kate Brennan, freelance writerNora infuses her songs with passion, humor, and grace. Whether touching on the embittered fervor of a heated break-up, or highlighting the haunting turmoil of pitfalls of ambition, Nora speaks to her audience with candor and honesty, all the while peppering her stories with contagious laughter and thoughtful insights. And while you are listening to her brassy, soulful belt, you may suddenly realize that other people’s secrets may be your own as well.
This is an awesome CD, professional quality
author: Kristin M. BurkhartOther People's Secrets really are about other people's secrets. Every song draws you into the life of yet another typically dysfunctional human being. The lyrics are conversational and perfectly fitting to each of the situations. The tunes are so great that I catch myself singing them all the time, and I've only had the CD for 2 weeks! You won't be uplifted by the stories that you hear on this CD, but you will find yourself smiling at the upbeat tones that accompany them and at the sort of universal quality of these people Nora sings about. There's at least one song on this CD that either you or someone you know could relate to. The recording is excellent and has a very professional quality. Awesome CD!!
