PARADOX, A Powerful Alternative Rock outfit, formed in Cork Ireland, in the spring of 1996. Having extensively played the local circuit, establishing a large fanbase, and fine tuning their sound, PARADOX venture to the USA in early 2000 where a Recording contract with a Los Angeles based Independent label, was secured. Having recorded a truly original 12 Track album, entitled 'Circle of Growth', Paradox returned to Ireland, to make preparations for it's imminent release, playing Electrifying live shows, both in Ireland and the USA, in turn increasing their fanbase, and launching their self-created website, just mere examples of the bands own hard work, enthusiasm and dedication.
PARADOX are a combination of three unique individuals, with distinctive musical backgrounds, each member contributing their own personal style, taking you on a musical journey, filled with passion, truth and expression. Brothers Pete & Mike Mac are solely responsible for all the performances on both 'Circle of Growth' and 'Sacred'. Pete is responsible for all Guitar work, Bass and Vocals, on both albums, while Mike perfoms all Percussion, Drums, Backing Vocals, with the addition of Keyboards and Piano on the 'Sacred' EP. They also participate on all production aspects of both albums.
PARADOX constantly remain in the media's eye, by means of International airplay, Radio interviews, Newspaper coverage, Internet coverage and Independent television broadcasts, with their debut video for the single 'Infinite', to their latest single 'Lame and Languid', from their latest release 'Sacred'. PARADOX have been described by Critics, Magazines, Newspapers, and faithful fans from the shows as being one of the tightest bands in their class, and with every show they perform, increasing their ever growing fanbase.
PARADOX have now progressed, both musically and personally to a new level of expression, veering away from their previous punk rock/grunge sound of 'Circle of Growth', to a more melodic Alternative sound, that the band have been thriving to achieve since their creation. This sound is captured on their second full lenght release, entitled 'Sacred'.
PARADOX continue to work on a full time professional level, in a bid to ensure they reach their full potential, and considering their blend of Unique Fresh Alternative Rock, these guys are sure to be a commanding force in the New Music Arena.

Whole band sounds killer!!
author: FanHi! If I told you that those are the coolest tunes that I've heard. This leaves me pondering this, why aren't you signed to a major label?? Very pro-sounding. Excellent production and performance. Whole band sounds killer. Vocals are on and interesting melody. Get signed dudes or don't, but keep it together. You rock. I really like your approach and style... and I am going to add you to my playlist and check out some more of your stuff. I wish I had more to say or some kind of constructive criticism, but your songs are ready for the air waves.
There’s no question that Pete and Mike are two talented guys!!!
author: Unsigned Music MagThere’s no question that Pete and Mike are two talented guys, check the credits. I found it difficult to give my opinion because 5 of the 6 tracks on the website were just short samples. The only full length song was the last one “Downward Spiral” now that song kicked ass! Energy to the end.
Paradox are definitely worth a listen!!!
author: Duss Rodgers/ Cats ask music. {Canada}Originally from Ireland this trio has found fairly agreeable success in North America with self promotion and hard work. Hard and in your face with the track "Corporate Pollution" Paradox extracts the essence of the North American ways of life, capitalistic apathy. Coming from a european background these insights into our ways of life are quite refreshing and even more pressing than when heard from within. The core of Paradox's sound is driven with passion and is reminiscent of the grunge/hard rock styles prevalent in middle America. The lyrics are quite insightful and are obviously something these gentleman put a lot of their heart and soul into. "Pretend Friend", one of my favourites displays their appreciation for the musical content of a song with their use of harmonies and a meaningful topic. Paradox is definitely worth a listen.
When Paradox release an album you gotta take it Seriously!!!!
author: Music fan!!!I was one of the lucky ones who got a pre release of this album. sacred is one of those albums that you must listen to 3-4 times but once you do you know you've got a peach! in an age of complete garbage on the radio, the mcCarthy brothers provide a welcome break from the present day musical production line! Sacred opens with 'angel of fate' which is very catchy without just being radio friendly. paradox fans will be only too familiar with track 3 'lame and languid' which is a true anthem of the cork based trio. track 7 'pretend friend' breaks the album up great when drummer mike mac leaves the drums at home as both brothers go for a very touching ballad. i did particulary like track 11 'downward spiral'. i suppose with a title like this the song has just gotta be good my friends and it is. after the slow' pretend friend' drummer mike mac once again belts the drums like there is no tommorow.....like drumming is going out of fashion. this is a good heavy tune. these are just some of the tunes i like but in between these tunes are more peaches as when paradox release an album you have got to take it seriously. the BRMC sing 'whatever happened to our rock n roll' .....well paradox have answered a few prayers. maybe someday fans will see both the black rebel motorcycle club and paradox on the same stage, now wouldn't that be a real treat? stranger things have happened!
'PULSING PUNKISH GRUNGE METAL' hailing from Cork!!!
author: Powerful BandsPARADOX are a pulsing punkish grunge metal hailing from Cork, Ireland. Their mixture of high vocals and lightly heavy guitar on Sacred sort of reminds me of Motley Crue crossed with Green Day with Vince Neil/Curt Cobain singing. Some songs have the "Too Fast For Love" (Crue's first album) feel to them with lots of acoustic parts adding the Cobainish groove. The rythm section, adding a down to earth feel, make these guys fun to listen to. PARADOX is a pleasant mixture of grunge and light metal. If this is what you are into, I highly recommend PARADOX for YOU......
'INSTANT SUCCESS'!!!
author: Garage RadioInstant success is the only term I can use to describe the destiny of the Irish band, Paradox. With tracks like "Lame and Languid" and "Infinite" these guys are sure to grace the scene with a pumped up version of the modern Alternative/Rock sound. As I listened I found new reasons to listen again. Obviously Paradox is dedicated to their craft. The mix is great and the power is incredible with a perfect combination of acoustic and electric to please nearly every taste. As Rock goes I always try to compare one sound to another, but Paradox is not a band to be compared to anyone. Pete's vocals are impeccable, beautifully accented by the rest of the band. Lots of great guitar accents and solid beats put Paradox on the top of my "next best list" and make for one killer rock band. Driven by melody and pure adrenaline, these guys are a commanding force in the new music arena. I really enjoyed reviewing this this band and, all in all, I can't find a reason to give Paradox less than 5 stars. I fully recommend listening to their style and adding them to your CD collection.
