notes

Julie Perrault's music has crawled under the skin of many listeners with her emotionally charged voice, incredible vocal range and witty songwriting. Her rich melodies are backed by upbeat and unique guitar rhythmns with alternate tunings, alternating tempos, sly picking sequences and an individual sound that is distinctly 'Julie'.

Her lyrics are candid and inspiring, like the conversations that you have with your best friend. She writes about the external workings of society with a strong intuitive sense of her own inner landscape.

Julie says: "My main goal as a songwriter is to connect with others. If somebody relates to what I am singing, either musically or through the lyrics, then I've accomplished what I set out to do."

Music can be a wonderful healer for both the listener and the performer." Sarah Harmer, Martina Sorbara, Dar Williams, Martin Sexton and Richard Buckner are on her stereo at the moment.

In the same way that she'll stand knee deep in a swamp looking for frogs, Julie tries to get her hands dirty with her songwriting and explores the 'nitty gritty' of being human.

This girl and her guitar has been lighting up stages around Ottawa for the past 2 years, including Rasputin's Folk Cafe, The Black Sheep Inn, Zaphod Beeblebrox, Rock City Women's Festival, Capital Music Conference Showcase and The Tulip Festival, NAC Fourth Stage and C'est What in Toronto.
