On his second solo record, Pete mixes human beatbox with world music influences, rock and bittersweet ballads. Think Beck meets Peter Gabriel with a taste of Nine Inch Nails.

notes
“Suggesting vulnerability yet brooding with tension, his songs are honest, poetic and visceral memoirs that command the listener's full attention.” -Telly Wong, teabagopenmic.com
Pete List is a composer and multi-instrumentalist who often performs as a solo act creating and layering live loops of human beatbox, bass, guitar and vocal textures right before your very ears that blend a taste of hip-hop, folk, reggae, Middle Eastern, African and various other diverse musical flavors to build hypnotic songs with more intensity and power than most full bands.
In songs like "The New One Two" and "Fly", Pete builds layer upon layer of heavy, rhythmic bass playing with beatboxing and haunting vocals and harmonies that build to a climax in a style that suggests Nine Inch Nails.
“Stay Your Hand” is a reggae-influenced politically charged song with textures and a vocal style that suggest Peter Gabriel.
“J-Lo with a Halo” is a bittersweet song with memorable overlapping layers of sweet melody that carry a lyric of haunting obsession.
In a similar style, “Headlong” is a slow brooding song of welcome abandonment.
“Good Day”, is an African style vocal round backed by multiple interlocking drum parts recounting the joyful story of a Mother’s return home.
“Ghost” is a layered textural composition of Middle Eastern flavor with ethereal vocals and a hypnotic rhythm.
“The Sign” is a song of spiritual awakening starting with a few layers of vocal percussion and a single voice and building to a crescendo of multiple beatbox parts and a dense overlapping of vocal textures and harmonies. All sounds on this recording came from Pete’s mouth.

Nothing sounds like this, its very immersive
author: Victor GoldfeldThere is nothing like this album around. Its one of the few ive heard in recent memory that transports you to another place in your mind. It sounds fresh an original, the opening track starts you off and the rest of the album flows smoothly. If you like interesting original music and getting something meaningful and artful out of it, check out this album. Its a perfect combination of alternative, buddha bar, hip hop, funk, and just good lyrics roled into one....ive never heard beatboxing used in this particular way before
