Plunky & Oneness
Got To Be Phunky
© 2001 James Plunky Branch
CD permanently out of stock. Sorry!
Saxophonist and his compatriots of phunk bust loose with tight rhythms, booming bottom and voices that soar. this is an old-school flavored r&b album that plays like a new-soul tribute to the funk masters.

notes
Plunky & Oneness kick out the funk and the mellow soul on their latest CD Got to Be Phunky. Saxophonist Plunky and his compatriots of phunk bust loose with tight rhythms, booming bottom and voices that soar. This is an old-school flavored R&B album that plays like a new-soul tribute to the funk masters. The playbill should read: Got to Be Phunky starring Plunky as James Brown and Maceo; vocal sensation Tonya Lazenby-Jackson as Rosie Gaines and the late Phyllis Hyman; bassist P. Muzi Branch as Bootsie and Verdine White; and guitarist Anthony "Ampy" Ingram as Prince...
The songs range from dance party booty shakers like "Any Which Way - Cool," to love and relationship heart stoppers "Back Into Me" and "He Doesn't Even Know." Thought provoking funk like "Plastic Is Easy to See Through" and "Be About the Future" contrast with the romantic chestnut "Betcha By Golly Wow," the only non-original in the 12 song collection.
P-L-U-N-K-Y-S B-A-N-D, Plunky & Oneness' Got to Be Phunky is P-Funk, Plunk Phunk - Da Bomb!
