Chosen by the staff of Las Vegas Weekly's 2003 Music Issue, as one of "Our picks for the best bands," Poppermost is a "retro" alternative rock trio band based in Las Vegas, NV.
What started off as a way for two Las Vegas musicians to make a living as a cover band ended up as Poppermost, a "retro" alternative rock band consisting of singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Alex Oliver, along with bassist Roy Al Rendahl, who also provides the audio and visual artistry for the band, and drummer/percussionist Phil Kaz.
Their original music speaks volumes of past heroes, while pointing to the future of rock. This second, long-awaited album is a departure from the mostly acoustic style of the first, getting back to more aggressive rock roots.
Even though Poppermost has their own sound, you can hear the influences of artists like the Beatles, R.E.M., The Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, and Fleetwood Mac's Peter Green and Lindsey Buckingham in their songs. They yearn for a time when "the music really matt ered," and wasn't about "fashion and hundred dollar T-shirts."
The diversity and quality of their music brings varied reactions from listeners, from "gotta dance" enthusiasm to awe. The lyrics have been appreciated as being ". . . so powerful. They really move me." Another fan has declared the music "addictive" and "never gets tired of listening to it."
To Poppermost, music equals life and their goal is to make a great living making great music, whether originals or covers, for everyone. Poppermost is taking "retro" into a new century with their music and their attitude of, "First you're born, then you die. In between you can either watch 'Lucy' reruns or kick some ass playing great music. You choose. We did. We are headed to the top...'the toppermost of the poppermost!'"
The Poppermost name originates from the early Beatles' inspirational call and response, "...to the toppermost of the poppermost!"

Can't stop listening
author: Christopher CullumI LOVE this CD. I got this CD over a year ago and it has not left the car cd player since. I have it on my computer and constantly listen to it. Retro Rock at it's best, great lyrics, great vocals, great instrumentals. This is really the toppermost of the poppermost.
