notes
This final release from The Professional Americans is a four-song showcase of the band’s pop sensibility delivered with some clever production from producer CJ Eiriksson (Fiona Apple, Something Corporate, Jack’s Mannequin).
The compact EP was recorded in only 2 days, and was a blur of melody, beats, and bass lines. The quick recording process reflected the short, driving songs that were building the band’s fanbase throughout the Midwest.
The EP begins with the boisterous, fist-pounding anthem “All We Have to Do.” “The song is a call for faith in action,” says Jason Poe, frontman and songwriter for Pro Am. “I wanted that song to be a reminder to myself that if I could trust enough to take a leap of faith, I would see my life become effective.”
The second track, “The Moving of the Day”, is a barrage of hooks and heartfelt lyrics dealing with the passage of time and the fear that can accompany growing up. Thought by many to be a breakthrough track for the band, “The Moving of the Day” will easily be a fan favorite.
The EP concludes with the pop-rock gem “C’mon.” With its sing-song chorus and unforgettable verse hook, “C’mon” instantly became an industry insider favorite. As the fourth, and final track on the self-titled EP, “C’mon” served as the perfect closer to an EP crammed full of masterful pop-rock anthems.
