A dynamic fusion of classical and progressive rock -- bold, brash, emotionally-charged instrumental music

notes

Featuring an entirely acoustic lineup -- piano, cello, flute, clarinet,
trumpet and drums -- PROCESSION presents the listener with a
dynamic new sound world. Equal parts classical and progressive rock
(with a smattering of jazz), these seven instrumental compositions
feature complex arrangements, vibrant rhythms, and bold melodies.

PROCESSION was composed and recorded by Dave Harrington of
Chicago, IL. Harrington's other CDs are also available through CD Baby:
Rule 29 (2004)
The Process (2007)

Reviews of PROCESSION:

"6 stars [out of 6] ... David amazes me with his deep knowledge of
Classical and Neoclassical music and his capability to use counterpoint
melodies all alike ... This is an excellent album."
-- Vitaly Menshikov, ProgressoR
(http://www.progressor.net/review/procession_2006.html)

"An intriguing listen ... very melodic and dynamic and well worth the
attention of prog fans, but of particular interest to those liking
their classical references – chamber rather than symphony."
-- Jez Rowden, DPRP [Dutch Progressive Rock Page]

“The compositions are all good, Harrington writes firmly in a type of
neo-classical form, and he rolls in dissonance and cunning harmonic
constellations … enough to make us want to hear more.”
-- Tarkus Magazine [Norway] (Nr 40, March 2007)

"A good CD for those who like a certain zest of sadness and
complexity in music."
-- Michel F, ProgGnosis
(http://www.proggnosis.com/PGRelease.asp?RID=20770)

"Harrington succeeds in creating a seamless fusion of rock and classical
elements with an entirely original character ... a fresh, moving,
interesting piece of 'chamber prog', which can be recommended
unconditionally to fans of the genre."

Procession is the fine work by David Harrington. It's an instrumental, acoustic, prog. rock journey featuring..piano, cello, flute, clarinet, trumpet and drums. It's not as frantic as Yes, as dark as Pink Floyd, as light as Alan Parsons, it's somewhere towards the middle. There are even pieces of music that Keith Reid could easily put lyrics to, and be recorded by Procol Harum. This is the best $10. that you could spend on a new prog release.
