notes
The ensemble we know as Prozack Staple was fully formed in June of 1999, adding vocalist Nate Thomas to a trio comprised of Jaime Reynolds on guitars, Gordy Burks on drums, and Tim Chomiak on bass. Monotonous Mt. Vernon, WA, a city roughly equidistant from Seattle, WA, and Vancouver, B.C., has ironically been the fodder for their complex and innovative musical style- a style that essentially ?wakes up? the average listener.
The fluidity presented in the transitions of their songs can be compared to many given monumental pieces of classical music. Thus, when at a live Staple show, one witnesses firsthand the consistency and flow that is a trademark of their music. Early 2000 united them as performers with longtime friend and supporter Arron Steiner. As a stage performer known as ?the phreek,? Steiner uses an array of unique homemade masks, costumes, and stilts that provide hypnotic visual stimulus through movement and symbolism, corresponding to the band?s intense sound.
Recently, Prozack Staple has enhanced the northwest with their new independently released album, The Calm behind the Chaos, owing much of their success to their fans: a national street team provides the public with important up-to-date info on the band, handing out CD samplers, flyers for upcoming shows, and requests to hear them on local radio stations. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be where we are today. Staple is also becoming internationally recognized, accruing fans via the internet from places like Australia, Japan, and Europe.
Being nationally supported by Jagermeister has allowed Prozack Staple to join a family of unique artists including Slayer, Pantera, Saliva, 36 Crazyfists, Hed P.E., Five Foot Thick, Insane Clown Posse, Switched, Chimaira, Lit, and FMLY. While on tour, they have shared the stage with Jager bands such as Hed P.E., and Saliva as well as bands like Systematic, Breaking Benjamin, and Stereomud.
Prozack Staple also belongs to Seattle Metal Online, and have had their song ?Obelisk? aired on the following Fox Sports Network extreme sports TV shows: High Octane, Vans Off The Wall, and Core Culture. They have appeared on Outdoor Life Network's Para-Sailing Programs as well as had nonstop airplay on XM Radio's Unsigned Channel 52 They are also sponsored by Dirtbag Clothing and are always on the look out for new endorsers that will promote their name for everyone?s mutual advantage.
With received interest from labels and management companies such as Flawless Records, Metal Blade Records, King Artist Management, GWN Europe, and Freeze Management/I Am Recordings, this band merely waits without stagnation for the structure and professionalism that a label will most certainly bring forth. We're ready to work hard for any label who would be interested in assisting us??

author: GolgothaA very good CD with with only one shortcoming--just average production. Don't let that stop you from purchasing the CD if you enjoy Tool, Incubus or SoaD as it has a nice mix of different elements from those bands (IMHO).

Very good album, interesting and mesmerizing music
author: Nathan GregoryThis is a well put together album. Nothing is drowned out, everything can be heard great. Definately an album for anyone who likes rock. It's sort of like a bunch of genres rolled into one, the kind of album you just want to listen to over and over. I highly suggest this album!!!
Intelligent, well-crafted...and NOISY
author: MileHighPeteI've had this CD two weeks now, and I can tell that I will be coming back to it again and again. The songs don't give up their riches all at once - they are intelligently structured, well-performed and informed with a great sadness. Truly, this album is a moving experience. It's also a hell of a noise, and the singer is possessed of a fearsome hardcore roar. I don't know too many bands in this genre, so I can't say how unique Prozack Staple are, but they are unique in my experience, with songs like noone else. 'Our Glass Vision' is one of the most tremendous tracks I have ever heard. Great stuff.
Addicting, engrossing, enthralling
author: ReaganAwesome! "Obelisk" "Discovery of Origion" "Our glass vision" are amazing tracks, but not the only ones that are good... I find myself listening to this cd once, twice a day. A must have for any person that likes a good mix in thier music. A little bit of everything. Grab this before it's off the shelf forever!
Prozack Staple's album, "the Calm Behind the Chaos' is so
author: Marni JohnsonProzack Staple's album, "the Calm Behind the Chaos' is so unique. When first listening to the CD, I was mesmerized by the way the music blended together. On track number 7, "Feeling Normal," Gordy sings back-up for Nate and their voices harmonize together to make the perfect collaboration. "Our Glass Vision" is usually a crowd fave. I suggest you go out and get the CD because it's so good it's hard to put into words!
The CD, "the Calm behing the Chaos," by Prozack Staple
author: Lindsey CainThe CD, "the Calm behing the Chaos," by Prozack Staple is nothing that I have ever heard before! Their amazing talent makes the music so breath-taking! The lyrics are so in depth. When first hearing the CD I was totally sucked into Nate Thomas's mesmorizing voice. Then to hear the rest of the music, it seemed to fit together so well! Each band member has a certain individuality to what they play! Particularly, Feeling Normal, the drummer, Gordy Burks, sings harmonies with Nate! That is only just one of the songs on the CD that has such amazing talent to it....The nice thing about this CD is that not one of the songs sound the same! It's not your everyday band, I can tell you that now. They have a certain sound to them that makes them so good! This CD is one of my new fav's cuz of its uniqueness and I hope they continue to keep it that way on many CD's to come!
What do you get when you cross the chugging riffs
author: DudefishWhat do you get when you cross the chugging riffs of Metallica, elements of classical music and one of the most unique and expressive vocalists around? Vocalist Nate Thomas, guitar guru Jaime Reynolds, drummer Gordy Burks, bassist Tim Chomiak and "freek" Arron Steiner of Prozack Staple answer this question with The Calm Behind the Chaos, a piece of art unlike anything before it. The experience begins with an eerie guitar introduction on the first track, "Successpool." Thomas's haunting vocals carry through the music naturally. One of the more down-tempo songs, it is important to understand the wide palette of colors that weave the album's story. "Feeling Normal" is a moody overture, powerful and ominous. Its intensity catches the attention of even the most attention-deficit and carries them to the end. Afterwards, the more "sing-song" vocals of "Live in the Now" dance around the guitar chords, while the drums and bass form a rhythm that helps the song ride in the manner it does. "Live In the Now" is a catchy tune well-suited for the casual listener, even if they aren’t into music with the intensity and rage as, say, “Our Glass Vision." The abandoned vibe in the next two songs, a progressive "Our Glass Vision" and the bipolar "Collide-A-Scope" maintain the signature sound of 'Staple while the mood fluctuates in a violent, and even delightfully disturbing manner. After you think you've heard it all, the final track suggests otherwise with another uniquely catchy introduction. "Behind Me" serves well as a conclusive piece of the record in the way the album's colors and articulated phrases all meet on the eleventh and last track. Prozack Staple has done a fine job in writing an album while maintaining its integrity throughout the entire process. No one element in the band's sound is exhausted, and every song stays true to its purpose and definition. The Calm Behind the Chaos is not only a work of art, but also quite an appropriate name for an unusual mix of rage and beauty. Beethoven would be proud.
Drawing forth from the vaporous roar of a synthetic crowd
author: B. ZapataDrawing forth from the vaporous roar of a synthetic crowd, a sinuous guitar ushers in the thirty-second intro of Successpool, the first song off of Prozack Staple's second album, the Calm Behind the Chaos. From a mere glimpse, we are fully tuned into what is bound to come forth from this hardcore band: indeed, a somewhat chaotic spectacle of boundless developed energy. If there were one term that could exact this band's approach, it would be syncopated unity. Clearly, their present sound is merely an instinct, one so refined that their inception as mere youth has produced constant innovation in approaches altogether distinct to their genre of music. Lead singer Nate Thomas's vocals can often be described as bi-polar: in the blink of an eye, as a new phrase in a song unfolds, a transformation from velvety tenor, (often compared to a man named Maynard), shifts to the chilling and often bloodcurdling wraths of a growling madness- in short, compared to no other. Jaime Reynolds shows off lead guitar glory in pieces like Discovery of Origin, being likened in his complexity to Metallica's Kirk Hammett. He condones the idea that the guitar is merely a vocalist's silhouette, but rather an impenetrable force of its own. The percussive layer of the band is clearly pronounced through drummer Gordy Burks consistent onslaught throughout the album- tumultuous, he seems to be stoking the fire, undulating between tension and release, while bassist Tim Chomiak at times mirrors a complex rhythmic landscape of his own, but often takes on his own melodious and jarring narrative. This is a unique band with a clear message: don't take them for casual death magnets, although their outer visage may initially promote the idea. In fact their philosophy is more towards meriting the eternal strength of humanity, and coming to the defense of its frailties. A suggestion to aural enthusiasts: Listen. On Repeat. Details are abundant, and each player refuses to give over so easily to the next. There is no apparent brotherly rivalry, but rather, the suggestion of familial similarities in talent, and an understanding of the ability to evoke intense excitement in an audience.
