"The most beautiful voice this side of Heaven . . ." QUEENIE possesses Enya-like lushness and the darkness of Sarah McLachlan. Songs from this album have topped global charts. Beautiful voice of a unique half-Japanese songwriter.

THE STORY BEHIND THE QUEENIE ALBUM
With only a shoestring budget, QUEENIE was recorded with a minimum of equipment back in 2001, when Queenie first started on the internet. The majority of the QUEENIE album was recorded in a not very large closet!!! Despite it's dedidedly lo-fi sound, the beauty & power of the song "Lost" propelled it to number one positions across charts on MP3.com, BeSonic.com, and many, many more. Songs from the QUEENIE album garnered critical acclaim from so many websites that Queenie became a sought after collaboration vocalist. Queenie contributed vocals to over a dozen different independent bands' projects and is still very in-demand as a vocalist today.

After many fan requests, Queenie recorded a live album called UNTOUCHED of simple, unedited live performances of Queenie songs for piano and guitar. UNTOUCHED was recorded and released in 2006.

Queenie has been working on developing a completely new, more hi-fi sound for her upcoming second album of new songs, the highly anticipated DREAM OF FLIGHT.

WHO IS QUEENIE?
Queenie is a hauntingly sensual siren for the modern age known as the Gothic Enya. Her heartbreaking ballads will inspire you and her classic hooks will enchant you. Compared often to Loreena McKennit, Kate Bush, and Joni Mitchell, Queenie's style is a small genre called Ethereal Goth. A world of unparalled beauty, innocence, and infinite sadness awaits you within a Queenie song, where stories are unfurled by the listener.

Half-Japanese and half German-Irish by descent, Queenie's sound is permeated with Asian themes and a signature melancholy. Influenced by fairy tales and science fiction in her youth, she acknowledges a bevy of influences from film music to Renaissance motets. Themes of nightmares, dreamscapes, and lost loves populate her songs. A prolific writer, Queenie has composed hundreds of tunes and has won international acclaim for her piano arrangements and angelic voice.

QUEENIE'S MUSICAL BACKGROUND
Classical guitar permeates many of Queenie's tracks, along with her signature lilting lyricism and ornate piano orchestration. Queenie is trained Classical pianist who studied in a Chicago conservatory.

Queenie's angelic voice is her signature. Light and airy, her unique voice is as soothing as touch. Queenie is an artist who shines among female singer-songwriters, modern yet ancient, intricate yet simple.

QUEENIE AND CHARITY
Queenie has often donated 100 percent of her show and CD Baby CD profits to charities that benefit women and children. Proceeds from the 2002-2003 holiday season were used to donate over $300 to Women for Women International, a charity that helps women get on their feet in war-devastated countries like Bosnia and Colombia. Proceeds from the 2003-2004 holiday season were donated to Operation Smile, a group that organizes doctors to offer free surgeries to children in poor countries. In 2008, 100% of profits from physical CD sales of UNTOUCHED will be donated to Women for Women International.

FUTURE MUSIC FROM QUEENIE
Queenie's upcoming second album of unique songs is the DREAM OF FLIGHT.

  • A great talent, a great, delicate voice
    author: Augusto (the Wimsurst's Machine)

I did love since the start the Enya-esque atmospheres and vocals, well supported by delicate piano and charming ambience. Very recommended to everyone who likes Enya or anyway relaxing, poetic music. Great! :-)

  • I can't wait for her next release

The only thing bad about this cd was the quality of the recording. Otherwise, this is a fine collection of songs from a terrifically talented singer/songwriter. I am truly looking forward to Queenie's next collection.

  • Astonishing debut from this exceedingly talented artist!
    author: Kim Loftis

Queenie’s debut album is a fantastic recording full of passionate, ethereal songs sure to transport any listener. They certainly transported me… back to teenaged days when I longed for isolation while struggling with the cruelty and methodicism of the outside world. Queenie’s songs are about real life… loss, terror, living in a fantasy world, heartache, bitterness and ultimately, survival. Queenie has a startlingly beautiful voice, which adds an ironic angelic quality to these songs whose subject matter is not so beautiful. She uses lovely instrumentation, subtle sound effects, and angelic harmonies to further shape her material. Each song has it’s own personality, and sparkles with Queenie’s passionate lyrics, delivery and her glistening piano. The orchestration is tasteful and understated, leaving her voice and lyrics front and center. It is obvious through her delivery that Queenie sings what she knows and has lived. Her songs should serve as highly welcome to those of us who have ever felt isolated, lost, ashamed, or just uncool. Queenie has the heart of a poet, tremendous musical sensibility, and a fine talent for drawing in her listeners. This is an astonishingly good debut, and I for one tremendously look forward to the next album later in 2005! Definitely grab this CD… this is a truly wonderful recording! Highly recommended!

  • Eloquent, Beautiful and Fierce

"Queenie" the album is a very relaxing album with thought provoking songs. It allows the listener to see the images of her songs in their head. Queenie's composition technique is strongly recognizeable and her voice proves to be an asset to her music. The album is wonderful and I have recommended it to several people. Yay for the Asian side!

  • Saying more than you've written is what makes the artist.
    author: Chapman James

I am always looking for an artist. One seems to have to glean through a miriade of entities screaming "Listen to me!", "Hear what I have to say!" and then one comes across a still small voice whispering: "This is how I hear it..." and then you know you are in the presence of a gifted heart. Queenie must have grown through the same situational chaos as Janis Ian, Judy Collins and even a young Joni Mitchell to be able to say so much more than she has written. Her wonderfully fresh rendition of "Lost" is as explcit as Judy's "Since You've Asked" and every bit as harmonic and layered. I was truly impressed. This is the kind of artist we writers dream of writing for but alas, she writes so well for herself.... Adding definition beyond linguistic reference to the titles she pens are rare strengths and appear to be her greatest talent.... Chapman James Folk Critic
