notes
Reggae Vision is Roots Reggae, music with the rhythm of the heart. "These Caribbean rhythms have a way of making you conscious of the important things in life... It gets your feet moving..." (Eric Sutter, Bravo Newspaper).
Reggae Vision's recent 2003 release CD, entitled "Wasted Years" offers 18 original songs varying from the classic reggae sound of "Are You Ready" to conscious songs like 'World is a Battlefield" and "Too Much Injustice" reflecting the realities of our times. "Island Rave", an imaginative track, evokes more of a club sound. "Gotta Lot of Love" and "Tunnel to My Heart" come directly from the heart to reach the listener's emotions.
Reggae Vision's more than 300,000 downloads and song plays on mp3.com show that people like to listen to Reggae Vision's music. Visitors to Reggae Vision's guest book say: "love the music, great song writing, keep it going, its powerful music, peace"; "subtle rockin' reggae rhythms"; "Me like de vibes put forth by Reggae Vision".
"Gillie", the creative force behind Reggae Vision writes all the lyrics and music. His music draws from many Caribbean musical traditions including Reggae, Calypso, Roots, and Dub Reggae. Gillie was born in the Caribbean on Lambert's estate, Middle Island, St. Kitts and at age nineteen moved to his parents' Island home of Anguilla. He learned calypso and soca music and he became a Calypso King in Anguilla, winning the Carnival calypso competition. He emceed many acts that were touring the Caribbean, including Third World.
