notes
Born in Lander, WY Tyler Stenson (27) considers himself a cowboy. Now Portland based, he writes of those days as if a Midwestern Poet; blending the old country-side with the new city-scape and delivering his songs from the heart, simple and true. Front man for his band Lander and twice named the Portland Songwriters Association Performing Songwriter of the Year (2006 & 2007), Stenson’s sound is putting lumps in throats and attracting a train of followers that find a piece of themselves in the sincerity of his words.
This is an older recording from singer/songwriter Tyler Stenson and his first official band Rhetoric Tuesday.

The Low Ceiling
author: alanI loved this albumn, it feels like 93 again, with "August and Everything After" comming out. It took me back, and if your a Counting Crows fan this is THE group for you.
Rhetoric Tuesday equals Amazing
author: LillianThe first time I heard this CD, I paused for a moment and thought, "Is this Adam Duritz?" (It really does sound like him the first time you hear it.) Of course it wasn't, and although it doesn't live up to the Counting Crows entirely, The Low Ceiling is AMAAAAAAZING! This is music that calms you down and yet makes you feel alive. I love it!
"Something Beautiful" rocks my socks
author: The Girl in PlaidI'm buying this CD just for "Something Beautiful". I haven't really played any of the other samples; I played that one and I've just been listening to that 2-minute snippet on repeat and waiting desperately for the CD to arrive. I see major Counting Crows influence here, but that's definitely not a bad thing...
Still on repeat
author: JasmineThe lyrics to the songs on this CD are absolutely sensational! I put it in the cd player as soon as it came about a week ago, and it hasn't left yet!
Simply Amazing
author: Eric RuthIn my quest to find new music I discovered the album the low ceiling by RHETORIC TUESDAY. From the opening notes of their album I knew that this band was special. It had little bits and pieces that reminded me of my favorite band the Counting Crows as well as some other artists. Yet it still sounded fresh and original. Since receiving the album in the mail it has been on repeat and has not left my CD player. I can guarantee that this band will be going places. If it were up to me I would sign them on the spot. Rather then go on and on about how amazing and talented this band is I will let the music do the rest of the talking.
These guys ROCK!
author: Dan AndersonI really love this CD it chills me out when ever I need it. My sister an UofO alumn introduced me to this CD and its in the player non-stop. Keep making more and keep playing at Taylor's I will be there to watch as soon as I turn 21!! Thanks for your music!
Awesome Music!!
author: Jamie BrennerEveryone who has listened to this CD with me has wanted a copy and I surely encourage them to buy!!! The quality of this music is unbelievable- lyrics are truly amazing and can't wait to hear them live! These guys are definately going big- and deserve to. Great job guys!
Pure artistic genius
author: KazThe guys voice made me melt on the spot, one of the few CDs that I not only love every track, but loved it from the moment I heard it. Chilled acoustic Counting Crows-esq with the ability to make me smile when I just hear the first line of the first track, keeping me smiling til the end. Pleeeease play in England - everyone I know are already at the gig, waiting for you to come on stage!!!
An amazing debut from an up and coming band
author: JasonI was looking through CDBaby, much like I normally do, looking for that one sound. When I stumbled upon Rhetoric Tuesday, I couldnt believe what I had found. This blending of lyrical and acoustic rock was exactly what Ive been looking for all this time. This CD manages to take you on a lyrical journey through the experiences of the artist, and their talent both vocally and musically places you in the midst of their troubles. I cant get these songs out of my CD player or out of my head. I simply cant wait till their next CD. Please make it soon, and make it longer than this one!! And most of all, keep up the good work.
I loved the cd!!! The little girl i watched loved it to
author: Meghan BloomfieldThis cd was AWESOME!!!! I took it to work and then little girl I watch loved it too!!!! we listened to the cd 3-4 times. Everytime the cd ended she would say "again, again" I had to bribe her to do something else!!! :) THanks!!! THis is a great cd to buy!!!
Soulful Rock - No Fluff
author: Tom RichmondThe sound on The Low Ceiling is superb. Piano textured upbeat rock with soulfully delivered articulate lyrics. Rock and roll with many layers of sound makes this a disc you can listen to over and over again - even though it has just six songs. Many longer releases simply have a couple of throw away songs to pad the compilation. Not here.
Nice! Very Nice!
author: Jeff Van DammeGreat job, great music!
Great sound and feel!
author: BryanDeep lyrics propel this group into the undertones of such famed artists such as the counting crows or Gin Blossoms. Great CD!
very heart-felt lyrics
author: Jeremy MitchellCOME TO NASHVILLE!!!! I really like the songs. I want more songs.
Keep a watch on these guys...
author: Heather Leonard :-)This band has amazing talent! Every song on their album is great. This band is going to make it big. I'm looking forward to seeing them live!
Mine is on repeat...
author: Ima FannNot only do I absolutely love this CD, everyone else who happens to hear it, comments and buys a copy as a result. I have only ever heard positive comments about this band's music. You should take a listen and decide for yourself. Although, I can gaurantee it will end up one of your favorites...as the others above have said. If it was cool to be a groupie, I'd love to call myself one. And, if these guys look half as good as they play...what a package!
Kick Ass!!!
author: Steve MildnerThis is probably the best non-mainstream or famous band I have ever encountered, and believe me that will change with time! These guys are going big, there's no doubt about that. I love the C.D. and I cant wait until I can get the next one. Keep up the good work fella's!
Each track makes you want more!
author: Jeff SanfordIt's rare to find an album where the listener doesn't need a "forward" or "skip-ahead" button on the CD player. I fell in love with this CD the first time I heard it. It killed me when the 6th song ended because I wanted more. Each song has it's own feel and all are great to sing to out loud. Also, if you get a chance to see them live, GO!
Absolutely one of my favorites
author: SteveThis is by far one of my favorite CD's. The music is super and the lyrics are fantastic. The only way I can describe them is that their music is genuine...in sound and in soul. I hope these guys come to NY soon. Can't wait for their next CD.
Awesome!
author: Hallie WhiteThis cd is absolutely my favorite cd right now. I havent taken it out of my cd player since I bought it almost two months ago. Their music takes you away and the lyrics bring you back home. I wish I lived in the same state so I could hear them live! :)
Style, Variety, and Grace all in one
author: Garett MartinusenI came across these guys at a local venue here in Portland. This band has all the ingredients for a great band. They have a unique style, great variety, and a graceful, yet driving sound. Must have CD...
good stuff
author: kobe hicejust heard the songs on here and cant wait to get the cd. Looking forward to seeing where these guys end up. Im thinking they are goin large and wish them the best of luck
In Love
author: Chesed CoppengerI've only heard a few songs by this group and it usually takes me forever to get into new stuff, but I loved this music right away. I'm hoping to see them live at some point. Lay in Love is the best song I've heard in a long time. People need to check Rhetoric Tuesday out, they're gonna catch on sooner or later.
These boys can play
author: Ben MetcalfI stumbled onto this band in a smoky little bar in eugene, or. Apperently one of there first gigs. Came for a brew with my girl, got a kickass show and left with a The Low ceiling which has found its way into my disc player more often then not. If there talent is an indication of there future, expect to see them around for a long while. This cd is true to the music and just plan kicks ass. Buy it now or wait a year or two and try and find it at Virigin records, good luck though chances are its sold out. peace.
this cd rocks!
author: kelly reedI just got this cd from a friend of mine, and didn't know what to expect from it. I love it, it is easily amongst my favorites- the songs all have a great sound and message as well. I look forward to hearing more from rhetoric tuesday.
