notes
An accomplished musician on piano and flute, RoJean's introduction to the folk harp at a Renaissance Festival marked the beginning of her love affair with the harp. She rewarded herself for completing an advanced degree with her own first harp purchase seven years ago.
Through her adventure in learning this ancient instrument, she discovered the joy of improvising, arranging, and composing. Her debut recording Tapestry of Solo Harp includes samples of her compositions.
A roving artist for the past several years at the Salina, KS Smoky Hill River Festival, RoJean also performs at the Kansas Sampler Festival, the McPherson Scottish Festival & Highland Games, and for a variety of banquets, dinner parties, Victorian Teas, weddings, memorial services. She maintains a private teaching studio and offers presentations to school assemblies, classrooms and civic & philanthropic groups.
RoJean is a graduate of the Music for Healing & Transition program (MHTP). As a Certified Music Practitioner (CMP), she adds the role of therapeutic musician to her performing and teaching. During her internship at a local hospital, she was especially welcomed by the staff and patients in the Skilled Nursing care unit. "I can just feel my pain melting away," is a typical comment she'd hear from a patient.
Massage therapists and elementary classroom teachers utilize her calming music in their work. "Hearing your music is like getting an inner organ massage," she's been told.
Whether it's magic or Heaven-sent is for you to decide!
