notes

Who would've guessed that this Air Force brat born in Waco, Texas, would take the Jewish world by storm with her energy and music?

From the halls of Temples everywhere to the camps of the UAHC....

Robbi Sherwin's SPIRITED JEWISH SONGCRAFTING keeps them singing and tapping their toes! Inspired by Jewish recording artists such as Kol B'Seder, Debbie Friedman, Sam Glaser, Mah Tovu, Julie Silver, Yom Hadash and others, Robbi's first CD of original Jewish liturgy and contemporary music utilized her friends and colleagues met at the Conference for Alternatives for Jewish Education. CAJE is not only the largest Jewish educator's conference in the world, but also the largest gathering of Jewish Contemporary musicians. The "Queen of Collaboration" named her CD, "Todah LaChem" (Thanks, y'all!) to thank the many wonderful artists who contributed to Robbi's enthusiasm in creating her music. Many of them are featured on this amazing album!

Great for the car, the synagogue, the Shabbos table and camp settings, Robbi's Todah LaChem will be a CD you will return to over and over again!

  • I LOVE THIS CD!
    author: Andrea Frankel

I am a big fan of modern, sing-along Judaica, and this is a GREAT album for that. (If you enjoy singing along with Debbie Friedman CDs, here's a perfect opportunity for you to branch out!) There are so many musical styles that there is sure to be something for everyone. The soulful Modeh Ani on this album is one I now sing every morning on awakening. The Zydeco/country 2-step version of Eliahu ha Nevi, followed by the bluesy Aleinu, plus the hard rocking L'Cha Dodi will energize and delight you. Her version of the Hazzanit's song for the High Holy Days is moving and accessible. In fact, every song on this CD is wonderful! (BTW, if you enjoy this CD, you will probably also enjoy "Ha Makom" by country-western singer Stacy Beyer.) BUY THIS CD!

  • Lots of fun and energy
    author: Carole Rivel

Robbi brings fun, lots of energy and real sense of "sharing the stage" to her music. Everyone feels included!

  • What an eclectic Songfest!
    author: Rabbi Don Levy

Who can resist Robbi's very wide-ranging interpretations of Jewish liturgical classics??! Given her long residence in Texas, one would expect influences from "both kinds" of music (i.e., country...AND western) and Robbi DOES deliver, but this disc also has pieces with Zydeco and Gospel influences, and others that are just plain soulful and reflective. I play it over and over (and sing along with gusto!) in the car...bravo, Robbi!

  • Todah Rabah Robbi!
    author: Steph King

Robbi Sherwin's version of Yihiyu L'Ratzon is the most spirited and beautiful version I have ever heard! She pours her heart and soul into every song, and now tefillah will never be the same. Her music, especially Todah LaChem, has a special depth and ruach that very, very few Jewish musicians can boast.

  • Toda Lach! Robbi.
    author: BenBrit

Robbi's CD seems to be a very unlikly jewish cd! has so many types of music and so many guests stars! all have one common issue - JEWISHNESS. just like the slogen "13 Milion people - ONE common ground". Yihiyu L'Ratzon" remind me of the great experiance I had at the Greene Family Camp in '97, and "Modeh Ani" is a song I can easily wake up in the morning to it's tone... It's amazing how each and every song can be used in many occasion and mood in life and also listening to the whole CD at once ! Yishar Ko'ach dear Robbi, can't wait for your next one!

  • I know I am Biased, but ITS AWESOME!

This CD is a great mix of fun, serious, slow, and fast music. It's great for listening to in the car, plane, home, or at work. It's got a great variety of instruments and song styles. My husband and I fight over who gets to keep it in our cars!

  • This CD has been INSTRUMENTAL in my Cancer recovery
    author: Judy Kaskel

After 2 major surgeries, I needed to begin a physical rehab program. This CD was with me on the treadmill, the nu step machine, the arm bar and other weight training exercises....and I listened to it as I walked countless miles in the country .The HEALING power of these songs made these hard exercises fun, and spiritual but most of all ,it filled my soul with RUACH and JOY....and was INSTRUMENTAL in my recovery...todah, Robbi(and friends).

  • Wide range of musical styles keeps your toes tapping!
    author: Aimee Wolf

Todah LaChem uses a range of musical styles to present both well-known prayers and original compositions. The melodies will have you singing along in no time, and the liner notes with translations are a great bonus.
