Biography
Scott was born and raised in a working class area of Syracuse NY. His musical adventures began at 16 when he formed a band with two school friends called Seratonin. They would practice in the projects with the windows open so the whole neighborhood could enjoy (they thought) their versions of Metallica songs. Scott spent a lot of time in his room just running scales and building speed which he felt was necessary as a metal guitarist. After finding little success in the NY heavy metal scene in 2000 he packed up and moved to Minneapolis. Scott joined a couple of metal bands such as Catalyst-A and Collapse but still could not find what he was looking for. One day at Barnes and Noble, on a whim, he checked out Tommy Emmanuel's music and was blown away. In the spring of 2002 Scott sold all of his electric gear and never looked back. Getting his start on the Minneapolis/St. Paul open mic scene and building his confidence, he soon started booking his own shows and recorded a demo in the fall called "Say Uncle". Scott planned and left for his first tour in November of 2003 across upstate NY. Scott returned just in time to move to Hampton, VA and since has been on the road quite a bit. Touring the Midwest extensively, Scott is steadily and surely building a following.
Scott's drive and love for what he is doing is both apparent and impressive and he has a unique style as well. While fingerpickers use all of their fingers plus a pick, Scott makes his music with one finger and a pick yet manages to come off sounding like a fingerpicker. There is only one Scott Bravo. He admires many but imitates none. His style is unique, his music as technically impressive as it is beautiful and his storytelling is insightful and often hilarious. Blurring the lines between comedian and musician, folk artist and rockstar Scott is a groundbreaking artist both in performance and personality.
