Shirona combines two rare gifts in this magnificent debut album - a breathtakingly beautiful voice and a talent for composing melodies that capture the soul of the listener. The ancient Hebrew texts, thousands of years old, posess powers that transcend logic... a transforming combination that will beckon you to listen to this CD over and over and over...

Shirona, a native New Yorker, was raised in Israel in a musical, cultured evironment, and started performing at an early age. After serving in the Israeli army she returned to the United States and starred in the nationally acclaimed Israeli-American Musical Review "On Silver Wings". After taking time off to marry and raise a family, Shirona returned to the Jewish Music scene with a newfound interest in New Age and Jewish Spirituality. She began composing original melodies to the ancient texts of the Bible and Prayer Book, in Hebrew, using multi-cultural musical influences, such as Celtic,Eastern European, Middle Eastern and American.

It's rare to hear a voice this lovely, a depth of passion that will stir one's soul, and melodies and lyrics which will captivate the heart, all on the same CD!!     I was hooked from the opening track. Most of the CD has a haunting and ethereal sound. However, there are a couple of upbeat tracks Sos Asis and Ein Keloheinu which feature childrens voices and Al Mishkavi has a very Middle Eastern flavour. Ki Eleicha is my all time favourite but there are many on this album that I just really enjoy. Shirona has a beautiful voice and this album is beautiful and easy to listen to.

    This CD is an amazing experience combining Jewish prayer, spirituality, and music. These three elements of Jewish experience are so powerful when they are artfully combined, as in this CD. I found each song lyrically beautiful, and brought me deeper into the prayer. I also experienced a great deal of the CD deeply restorative in that the melody and meaning are delivered with the love the artist feels for God, if not also for her listeners. These love songs to God brought me in touch with my loving feelings, and one cannot get too much of this beautiful gift. This CD has also been deeply enjoyed by individuals who are not highly observant or religious Jews, because of the musician's ability to touch the human heart in a most universal way.

    Shirona's beautiful voice and musical compositions conbine with deeply wonderful source material to make this a CD worth listening to many times. It is a CD of some of the geatest of all Love songs one can ever hope to hear - some well known, such as the first few paragraphs of Genisis and others more esoteric - all Love songs to God, and therefore universal. The music certainly enhances the source material - not an easy task. This CD doesn't just sit on the shelf - it calls out to study and appreciation of all we have before us. It is a CD that my entire family enjoyed.
