notes
Since 1986, Shrimp City Slim and his superb band have established themselves as THE force in modern South Carolina blues.
"Gone With the Wind" is his first studio album, recorded with studio time won at a regional blues talent search (the band took First Prize). Tracked in ten torrid hours (and mixed in only two!), "GWTW" is basically live in the studio with few overdubs. As with all Shrimp City Slim projects, these are all original songs with the exception being a luminous blues-swing version of "Amazing Grace".
"GWTW" finds Shrimp City Slim rockin' the house from behind the acoustic piano, with fiery contributions from Juke Joint Johnny (harmonica), Silent Eddie Phillips (a variety of acoustic & electric guitars), and the Blue Light Special rhythm section (Jay "Boom Boom" Niver, drums, & Jerry "The Hitman" Hiers, bass).
If raw Carolina electric blues with a melodic twist is your cup of tea, you'll really enjoy this CD.

A very enjoyable session
author: Paul Lewis (Blues & Rhythm, UK)This one's a real face-slapper...swinging harmonica, rockin' piano, excellent bottleneck guitar...a very enjoyable session!
Carolina keyboardist rocks the coastline
author: Bill Dahl (Living Blues)Pianist Shrimp City Slim (now there's a handle!) cooks up a steamy set, his rockin' 88s spicing up an original menu predominated by bouncy upbeat tunes. He rocks the coastline with his buoyant singing and accessible beach-laced melodies.
