notes

Simon Lott is a drummer/percussionist who currently tenants in Louisiana's capital, Baton Rouge. Lott's musical atmosphere offers a cornucopia of sound ranging from drum 'n' bass-oriented beats to pocket funk grooves, from swingin' cocktail jazz to completely free noise jamming...whatever!

He was born on January 6, 1982 in Baton Rouge, LA into a family of musicians. After already working professionally for 3 years, he indepently produced his first recording "In the Parking Lott of Swing" at age 18. The compact disc is filled with Lott's original music that incorporates various configurations of the composer and six musicians from the Baton Rouge area: Fred Jackson (alto sax); Frank Williams (trombone); Andy Bourgeois, Brian Coogan, Mike Esneault (piano); and Dr. Robert Nash (double-bass).

He has performed with excellent musicians like Wessell Anderson, Victor Atkins (of Los Hombres Calientes), Alvin Batiste, Willis Delony, Derek Douget, Mike Esneault, Aaron Fletcher (of Terence Blanchard), Tim Green (of 3 Now 4), Bill Grimes, Roland Guerin, Glen Guilbeau, John Hebert, Ed Petersen, Rex Richardson (of Rhythm & Brass, Joe Henderson), Fred Sanders, Brian Seeger (of Stanton Moore, Quintology), and Brice Winston. His private music instructors have included Robert Aertker, Leon Anderson, Jr., Troy Davis, Willis Delony, Mike Esneault, and Jared McElwee.

A new recording of fresh Lott compositions is in the works. Featured players include: Rex Richardson (trumpet, flugelhorn); Adrian Strickland (acoustic piano, Fender Rhodes, keyboards); Dr. Robert Nash (double-bass, electric bass, electric guitar, effects); and Micah Blouin (congas, marimba, kalimba, brake drums, animal calls, misc. percussion). Stay tuned!
