author: CJ of Saturn Sunrise(Smoothly-Soft-Yet-Cleverly-Punk-Rock-With-AI've loved her music from the first cd I bought, but the second album was a great high point in her music career a lot of the songs grabed my heart with such brilliant lyrics, cleverly original & well written here are the one's I refer to in order I love most first "addy's tattoo", "lose me", "Too bad you", "captain madness", "dirty Wings", & "Mocking bird" once you have that great album 2 in your collection I would recomend adding this one as well if you love it as much as I do. the newest ep though only 5 tracks well worth the money the songs are all just as great as I'd expected them to be. I write original stuff & so I really apreciate great artist's that can fill my times when my writings dry with amazing sound & well placed words, its nice to always have music. A finale note to the artist: I hope you continue to release new music & I can't wait for a new album, you are truely a great artist "my pen leaks poetry" brilliant. Hope you get all your dreams with talent like yours you should go far.

author: carpy1985Firstly this is not one of the easier albums to get hold of especially for us United Kingdom fans! So thank-you CD Baby. After the first 2 albums i was waiting for a third to see if they could keep the magic going... Suffice to say i haven't been disappointed! It may be a short album but its full of amazing songs (number 2 Sails being my favourite!). I read a review saying they couldn't hear the words over the music?! I suggest they maybe buy a new stereo or turn off the bass! Megan, the way you sing is a pleasure to listen to again and again, i love the way you can so gracefully swap from singing slow and soft into a powerful rocky sound... amazing, unrivalled!
Production value through the roof

author: chris ericksonbeing a huge fan of all music worldwide, i must say that this ep (along with megan's other works) is the best i've heard in ages. with a voice that breaks age barriers and vocal limitations, a little extra sun is 100% recommended by me. megan never fails to amaze me with her music and this cd is no exception. a little extra sun is by far, my favorite cd released to this day.
Nice but could use better producing
author: KelliMegan has such a pretty voice - too bad we can barely hear it over the instrumentals in this CD! I had the volume turned up but to only turn the drums, guitars, etc. up.... I had to strain to hear her voice!! You cant make out what the words are in the songs!! Megan, sweetie, you need to hire a better producer so you can get noticed!!
Nice progression from earlier albums

I highly recommend her earlier albums (Lady is a Pirate and Freaky Little Story) as well. It's wonderful to hear the progression she has made. And, as always, the lyrics are catchy and easy to sing along with. ENJOY!

I only wish it was longer, but can console myself with her other two that I have in my player. I can only compare Megan to the next Lisa Loeb. She's a great lyricist and guitar player and I hope she goes far. I saw her play live here in KC after purchasing "Freaky Little Story". She did a fabulous job and was so personable. It was amazing, but she was even a little nervous--which didn't show once she took the stage!

Vocal dynamo belts out five fantastic tunes
author: Amy SmithThere's not a song on this CD that I don't love. I think "You Love Like" is my favorite. As always Megan sings her heart out. She has an awsome range and makes those interval jumps sound effortless. Try singing along to Riley! It's a catchy tune, but those vocal runs are not as easy as she makes them sound. A Little Extra Sun has flow, but each song is distinct and memorable. My only complaint is that there are just five songs.

Sure I'm gushing but, after hearing "My Hallelujah" you should be.This leads you into the opening preview of what should be a spectacular follow up to her Freaky CD. "Sail" and "Planets" are riveating and "You Love Like" and "Riley" have you indulged in happiness. Megan has a real feel to look inside of herself and express that which others fear to say, for someone this young it is astounding. If you miss this you don't know what you're missing and you've already missed too much. The Cd is impressively mixed and produced and the sound is glorious. All I can say is Megan Don't change!
Same Great Megan!
author: Dan HI saw Megan probably about a year ago on What Not to Wear, and have loved her music ever since. This CD is no exception. The songs are fresh and new, but still of the same great quality as her other CDs. Definitely worth the money! Sounds like an extension of her second CD Freaky Little Story because it has more of a band influence, whereas Megan's first CD was just her and a guitar. Some of the songs on here are definitely up there with my old Megan favorites. You'll love it too!

SAILS & PLANETS had me mesmerized immediately. I can only stop listening to one of her CDs if I put in one of her other 2 cds. She has blown me away from the first note, and A Little Extra Sun just raised the bar again. I could never understand Groupies (ie. for Elvis, The Beatles, etc.), but now I understand! A Little Extra Sun & Megan are tops in my book!

I was keeping my fingers crossed for yet another amazing CD and well, I didn't have to worry at all! I got it a couple weeks ago and it's been in my CD player ever since. It's just as good as Freaky Little Story and my only complaint--I wish it was longer :)

Polished and Melodic

Her songs have always translated well either live or recorded even if they are acoustic. Her style is similar enough to other acoustic giants such as Sheryl Crow, Jewel, or Tori Amos to have potential broad audience appeal, but still has a wonderful uniqueness that may also attract fans of lesser appreciated artists such as Bree Sharp or Jill Sobule. Although this is not a CD you could play during a rockin party, it is an excellent mood setter for a dinner party or quiet moments. The arrangements are more refined and are light years ahead of her Lady Is a Pirate CD. Though it is better produced, it hasn't sacrificed any of the soul her past two albums radiated, and shows that not only has Megan become more polished outside the studio, but inside as well.

As she continues to grow as an artist, her work retains a simple purity (or is that a pure simplicity?) that will have you hooked from the first spin, but at the same time becomes richer, deeper, more complex, so that like a fine wine each new taste will bring to light something that you missed before. This limited edition will be a collectors' item some day.

The production on this album is first rate, to be sure, but would be absolutely nothing without the sometimes whimsical, sometimes serious, but always earnest voice of Megan Slankard. The lyrics are top notch (if you think "Sails" is about a romantic relationship, take another listen...) and Planets promises to be a modern classic. This CD hasn't left my CD player since the moment I got it! I think this CD proves it's time for the rest of the world to get ready for Megan...
