notes

'Elite Veterans Of Rock'
Nannette and JC Stephenson bring their influences and love of great rock acts from the 70's,British blues-rock,and female rockers back again on their 2nd cd. This is guitarist/keyboardist,JC Stephenson's swan song. Much love went into the recording and writing process of this cd.
He passed from skin cancer on March 26,2002.

"Combining rock energy with the maturity of adulthood, plenty of style and
substance!
Emotionally charged, stylistic rock music with well written lyrical content
(anti-headbanger music)". Charlie Harrelson-www.evor.com

"this is truly attuned and noble rockful music that sings of and to, the heart feeling
and soulful amongst us. I hear angels...." Daniel- www.thereoutthere.com

"Crossing the tightwire between adolescent angst and adult life lessons, this energetic rock and roll draws you in for the ride." Donna Ramsey-music lover & photographer.

"Their high energy rockin blues and sinfully delightful vocal sounds take you on an emotional roller coaster of sheer ecstasy." Pete Mizell

"This CD starts with a fine interpretation of a Lennon/Mccartney number and finishes with an equally fine rendition of a Steve Winwood number. Sandwiched in-between are 11 superbly penned Snakes-n-Angels numbers. I will not go into my usual track by track breakdown of this CD as it could prove too painful for us all. However, I must give particular credit to Cookin' Blues, Area C, and Can't Find My Way Home. This CD is autobiographical, it is the story of the late, great James Cline (JC) Stephenson, his music, and his struggle for life against cancer. Also, there is the love and support of his wife Nannette, 'Hoot'. Listen to this CD, you will sense the bravery of the man and the love of a man and a woman, shoulder to shoulder fighting the battle together. This CD was recorded between July and December 2001, consider this, JC suffered 175 seizures in October 2001, he had to relearn how to play all of his instruments to complete this last great work. JC sadly lost his battle on March 26th, 2002 before this CD was pressed.

I am sure you will all join me in wishing our sincere condolences to Nannette and their 2 children at their sad loss. A big thank you to Nannette for sending me the CD as soon as it was issued, I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to review this superb album and pay tribute to JC, his life, his bravery, his musicianship. His instruments, 'The Snake', 'The Bird' are silent now, he is truly with the Angels. Cherish the music, Cherish his bravery, above all Cherish your memories of the man and his life. I am sure JC would wish you Nannette to continue writing, recording and performing, his memory is an inspiration to us all."

I haven't even listened to this c.d. but I bought 100 acre wood and was sold. I listened to the c.d. one time and I knew instantly that I would be buying the rest.

  • Excellent

This is a truly great cd. I bought it for my husband who is a long time fan, but ended up listening to it with him. This is one of the few bands that we both like. They sound a lot like Heart.

  • Power and energy !
author: Laura T Lynch of Kweevak.com

This band who is based out of North Carolina has two strong lead vocalists, layered beats and smoldering guitar leads. High-octane male and female vocals and towering passions are the norm on this thirteen-track collection. Their sound is a potent blend of classic and modern rock with shades of country and an occasional metal edge. Their songs like their name demonstrate duality such as hard rocking tracks followed by subtle ballads. The whole CD has force, catchy hooks and solid musicianship. 'Daze' is an energizing track in which Nannette demonstrates her wide vocal rang with passion and precision. A beguiling beat and stellar guitar work cap off the song. 'Cookin Blues' melds simmering sultry vocals with spicy beats and smoking guitar leads. It is down home blues with a fiery flavor. 'Cry for Justice' is textured with rich zealous vocals, zestful guitar work and a plaintive beat. Snakes-n-Angles is a power packed blues outfit that rocks with emotion and energy!
