Sol Dog is a jam-band operating out of southern Connecticut. Their music combines blues, southern rock, jazz, funk, and even some folk. Their stage shows feature tightly focused jams, relying on infectious grooves and memorable songs.
Since the 2000 release of their first studio CD Sol Dog has performed at numerous venues and at outdoor festivals throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island. They have been regular performers at popular Manhattan clubs including Hogs & Heifers and Tobacco Road. Their Connecticut appearances have included Norwalk's Oyster Festival and SoNo Arts Festival, Bridgeport's Black Rock Festival, Shelton Day, and noteworthy clubs such as Toad's Place and Shenanigans. Their charity appearances for a variety of causes are too many to list here.
Sol Dog was the featured act at the Danbury, CT July 4th fireworks show for three consecutive years, entertaining over a thousand people for three hours before moving into the Classic Rock Pub and playing another three sets.
At NYC's Tobacco Road they achieved some of their biggest boosts. For one such set they opened for Peaceful Kinevel, a band fronted by former members of the Black Crowes and the Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies and featuring former members of Lenny Kravitz's and Keith Richards' bands. They also appeared with Marc Ford (also of Black Crowes) and the Sinners. Both sets received raucous applause; Sol Dog CDs sold out and T-shirts had to be re-ordered. It was at this club that they met former Allman Brothers Band/Gov't Mule/Blue Floyd keyboardist Johnny Neel, who produced their second studio CD, "Whatever Gets You There," recorded in September 2003 in his studio in Nashville, Tennessee. After some production delays, this CD was released in 2005. Currently it is selling many copies at home and in Europe.

    Yes ,here is the next big ,big thing!!Fantastic songs ,melodic and feeling makes every real southern/blues and jam rocker more than satisfied.I´m absolute happy with this great cd ,it`s hard to find this music level here in germany.This is a must!!     This album is the incredible refinement of what we all love about Sol Dog. The music is focused, yet loose and is a movingly soulful expression of a beautiful, pagan view on life.     The sound of summertime the clean sound from a great in person band is captured on the CD. World class vocals backed up by a hard playing band and lyrics that aren't just a backdrop for the rythm make for a great CD.

    I'm not one who get's into writing reviews or who get's so into music that I know alot about the underground bands like Government Mule and Phish. But I do know what I like and I like Sol Dog. This album really puts it out there. If you like great good o'l Rock N' Roll, you will love these guys. I gove em two thumbs up plus a boner. Bands like Sol Dog are what's keeping the true meaning of Rock N' Roll alive today

    With strong musicianship and songwriting, Sol Dog has recorded an album that showcases the band's strengths. Influences from blues, southern rock, and funk show through, yet they maintain a sound that's pure Sol Dog. The band is playing extremely well together, functioning as a tight unit. The instrumental solos show Sol Dog's talent as a jam oriented band, without ever going overboard into self-indulgence. Highly recommended.
