The musical duo, "Someone's Sister", provides the perfect combination of rock and folk as each artist lends her own life experience to create music unlike any other. Georgia Winfree and Katherine Jones met in 1994 while going to college and later in 2002, they began to pool their musical resources. Winfree and Jones believe that although each of us is different, we are all part of a family- someone's daughter, neighbor or sister- thus "Someone's Sister".
While rare to find this blend of harmony, style and artistic expression, their new release, "Hand Me Downs", takes you one step further- it pushes you to think. This diverse musical collection gives the listener everything from "Scream", a high energy song depicting the "rat race" of daily life, to a reflective 9-11 tribute, to a simple duet, accompanied by acoustic guitar and mandolin . "Someone's Sister" possess' a unique casual style and vocal clarity- this duo should not be missed.

I own 10 copies of this CD, and they are all worn! I cannot wait for the next! These girls are awesome!I know their music will touch each individual at some point in their travels through life.

I was blown away by Hand Me Downs!! I heard Georgia and Katherine sing a few years ago and I knew they were talented, but WOW! The CD brought smiles, tears, and everything in between. What an awesome piece of work for two great talents. I haven't taken the CD out of my player since it arrived!

Nothing takes on a more personal aspect than song and music. However, I have never experienced a CD that in it's entirity hits so close to home. The lyrics go to the core of all the feelings you can't quite explain, not by explaining those feelings, but by simply being them. Georgia Winfree's voice is smooth, bold, precise, and sometimes appropriately angry. Katherine Jones sings with perfect purity. Her voice is exquisitely melodic with an edge of smoke and jazz. When these two talented women harmonize it is as though the two voices have performed the musicsal miracle of becoming one. After this CD takes you through your adulthood with such precision, it ends with a song that takes you back to your childhood, wrapping this gift with the perfect ribbon. I need to purchase another copy becuse of the fear of wearing this one out.

This is a great CD. It has something for everyone. These girls really put their heart into their music. I hope everyone gets a chance to see these girls live. I saw them at the Six String Cafe. Real music!
author: New Raleigh fanI heard "Out Of My Mind" on WRAL 101.5 Sunday night and think it is simply wonderful! I am ordering a copy of the CD now and can't wait to hear the rest! I think you really have a shot. That song was really happy and bittersweet at the same time. It made me think back about my high school girlfriend. My first real love. Made me wonder for the rest of the night what she was doing now. Walking forward but I'm looking behind...can't seem to get you out of my mind Good car tune! Keep up the good work!
