A well-crafted rock sound and powerful live shows have gained Atlanta-based rock band State of Man a reputation for being “one of the East coast’s premier acts” (XM Satellite Radio).
The band's music combines driving guitars, soulful vocals, and syncopated bass and drums, resulting in a sound described by Kings of A&R.com as “powerful, yet soulful modern rock/alternative.” State of Man’s full-length debut CD, “Lose Your Mind,” gained the attention of Atlanta platinum producer Rick Beato and multi-platinum, Grammy award winning producer Don McCollister, who each recorded tracks for their EP, "More Than Coincidence," the band's maxi-single "Swallow Your Fears" (charting in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, June 24 issue) and the latest full length release "Both Sides of the Story."

unflippin' believable... deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom... working out in the gym... battery died in the MP3 player and I was forced to listen to the usual gym staff garbage piped in over the speakers... well turns out one of them has some incredible taste, and worked with these cats on a USO tour in Japan... do I need to say I'm hooked? I stopped my work out and went to find out who they were... been advertising to friends and family at home in Paso Robles / San Luis Obispo / Fresno, CA every since. Best sound to come out in years, great work!

author: RogueFrom the moment I heard the single "Swallow Your Fears" I knew I had to get this album...and once I did, I realized that I couldn't pick a least-favorite song if I tried! I bet I couldn't say a thing about this album that hasn't already been said in these reviews, but I'll give it a shot...each song on BSOTS has an infectious melody that sticks in your head long after you've stopped listening; John Stringer's voice is powerful without being overdone and draws you in with its openness and warmth; the honesty in the lyrics is something valuable in this day and age, when we're all looking for that artist we can relate to. I couldn't imagine life without SOM now!

Powerful, unique, infectious
author: RitaState of Man's Both Sides of the Story is consistently excellent. I don't skip any tracks. Vocals are unique and sweet. Melodies stick in your head. And they've achieved the illusive infectious groove. My favorite cut in Be Still. Hey, have you guys realized the gospel potential of Bound in Chains? I'm sure you have. Nice work, dudes.

author: AllenI can't seem to take this CD out of my player. Incredible songwriting with melodic, catchy hooks seem to draw you in and not let you go. I love every song on it, and that is rare in these days. Do yourself a favor and buy this CD if it's the only one you buy this year. You won't be dissapointed!!

As usual, the energy was great, the music was beyond description and the connection with the crowd was what all bands should strive to have. I am a 45 year old 11 yr veteran of radio broadcasting. I can say that I have previewed thousands of CD's and without a doubt this is one of the top 10. Not since Boston released their self titled offering has a band released a CD that you can put in the player, turn it up, and let each trac tell its story. The levels were perfect, the bass, drums and guitar each had their own identity yet they flowed together like two smooth rivers meeting. And the vocals, ahh the vocals. Crisp, clear, yet powerful and raw. It was well worth waiting on and I am glad that I was able to get one so soon. Keep up the great work and hope top see you in the ATL soon. Oh, and if you need someone to shoot some video for you and I am around, give me the camera. I saw a load of missed shots that needed taking. You have to get up in the band to shoot good video of the band. Not just in the crowd. Respectfully, Berry Raulerson
