    The Atlantics
    Big Beat Boogie
Honking saxes, boogie woogie piano and ripping rock n roll and rhythm n blues from this UK band.
Boogie…boogie woogie! Get your dancing shoes on people its time to party - one of the hardest working bands on today’s rock n roll scene have just released their first recording. This is stonkin 1950s style rock n roll dance music with the band’s own unique sound (a rhythm n bluesd-up type of Bill Haley). With the real rock n roll line up of vocals, guitar, double bass, honkin sax, boogie piano and drums, The Atlantics create a big authentic 1950s sound which has gained them a reputation for their energetic live performances which they have aimed to keep in the studio. The Atlantics are: Shorty Long (stand up bass/vocals) been playing bass for 20 years and has had a lifelong love of rock n roll since first hearing Bill Haley as a young boy. Mr Miggs (guitar/vocals) led a rock n roll lifestyle for 15 years as guitarist with various rock bands, always heavily based in rock n roll. Influenced by T Bone Walker, Cliff Gallup, Freddie King and Franny Beecher he brings the essential twang factor to The Atlantics. Ruby Darnell (sax/vocals) she loves all those old 50s honkers and bar walkers such as Joe Houston, Big Kay McNeely, King Curtis and Lee Allen, and she’s also a fine singer songwriter. Johnny Ace (drums) At 16 years old, he’s one of the youngest drummers on the rock n roll scene and has plenty of energy, cracking out rimshots and shuffle beats like there’s no tomorrow. Boogie Bill (piano/vocals) completes the line up with his pounding rhythm and piano hooks, giving The Atlantics that big sound and original 50s vibe. ‘Big Beat Boogie’ has thirteen tracks - four classic covers and nine rockin original tracks written by the band and all in the vein of the music they love. The band used the Music Mill studios in Devon UK, owned by world famous audio engineer/ producer and desk designer, Malcolm Toft. Malcolm is renowned for his audio equipment and one of his desks has just been installed into the famed Sun Studios USA. The band say, “We used the studio’s live room to try and capture the energy and sound of our live performances on CD. It worked well and we’ve started work on writing for the next one already.”
