GRATEFUL, The Songs Of John Bucchino (CD)
Intelligent, literate Cabaret/Pop with an original perspective.
GRATEFUL is a compilation of the songs of John Bucchino sung by a variety of extraordinary artists: Liza Minelli, Art Garfunkel, Judy Collins, Patti LuPone, Michael Feinstein, Jimmy Webb, Kristin Chenoweth, Ann Hampton Callaway, Andrea Marcovicci, Billy Stritch, Adam Guettel, Amanda McBroom, David Campbell, Brian Lane Green, Lois Sage and Daisy Prince. They are accompanied by Bucchino on piano.
A companion piano/vocal songbook is also available.
In addition to the singers listed above, John's songs have been recorded and performed by Barbara Cook, Yo-Yo Ma, Audra MacDonald, The Boston Pops, The Los Angeles Philharmonic, and many others in venues that include Carnegie Hall, The Hollywood Bowl, The Sydney Opera House and The White House.
The Houston Chronicle calls him: "A new American pop master... Bucchino merges the artfulness and sophistication of America's master songwriters (Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, George Gershwin) with the contemporary style and plaintive folk quality of the top singer/songwriters who emerged in the 1970s, such as Carole King and James Taylor."
The New York Times says: "Mr. Bucchino possesses a singular voice and an absolute integrity of expression."
And Rex Reed writes: "If Tennessee Williams was alive and writing tunes he'd be John Bucchino."
