    Canciones de la Avenida Impar
Concept album that narrates the stories of everyday people in urban Costa Rica. All songs were recorded during a live session, alongside a string quartet, a brass quartet and even a Marimbist!
"Canciones de la Avenida Impar" is Patiño Quintana's third studio album. The entire project had a multidisciplinary approach to developing an audio-visual concept. Each song was inspired by a photographic portrait, taken by Costa Rican artist Leo Carvajal. The artist would show the band a photograph, without revealing any details about the person who was portrayed, and the musical composition would develop from there on. The band would then create a character based on what the photograph transmitted, and write a song about that character. The result is an album that narrates the story of 5 different characters, each of which relates to a day in the life of urban Costa Rica. The band took the songs to an old Costa Rican theater for a live recording session. In addition to the 8 members of Patiño Quintana, the songs were recorded alongside a string quartet, a brass quartet and a percussionist who played Marimba, a very important instrument in Costa Rican and Central American folklore. Orchestration for this additional ensemble was composed by producer Paul Rubinstein, and was executed by some of the country's finest musicians. This record captures the essence of urban Costa Rica and translates a folkloric language into a popular interpretation, with elements of pop, rock and latin rhythms."
