    Priscilla Herdman
    Into The Stars
Herdman is known for her stunning vocals, thoughtful selection of material and for delicate yet rich production on her recordings. "Her voice is miraculously pure and effortlessly beautiful, a voice that immediately draws people in and wins them over."
"Into The Stars" is Priscilla Herdman's 10th solo CD and her first in five years. Herdman is known for her stunning vocals, her thoughtful selection of material by writers both familiar and new to the listener, and for the delicate yet rich production of each project. "Into the Stars" is an inspired collection that celebrates the beauty of the night sky and the wonder of the universe that surrounds us. Her long time love of all things celestial and her fascination with the Hubble Space Telescope photographs, led her to gather these songs which relate both literally and metaphorically to the universe and night sky. The songs range from deeply emotional and romantic to playful and imaginative. Some take a narrative ballad approach (Underneath the Stars, Sail Away, Vincent, Ideas Are Like Stars), some connect to the theme more literally (Satellite Sky, The Galaxy Song, Pleiades, Blue Boat Home) and some poetically (The Play, Firefly Lights, Comet, The Moons Song). In addition to a 33 year solo performance and recording career, she is also well known for her series of multi-award-winning family CDs (Stardreamer, Daydreamer and Moondreamer) and for 20 years as one third of the celebrated women's trio Herdman~Hills~Mangsen with her friends Anne Hills and Cindy Mangsen. ABOUT THE SONGS The Play: A view of ourselves as part of this vast universe from the perspective of our own planet, tumbling through space. This song invites you to celebrate the magnificence that we are a part of and to experience the wonder and magic that leave us breathless when we let ourselves "fall into the stars". Underneath The Stars: A beautiful and timeless song of lost love. Blue Boat Home: A song that celebrates the beauty and wonder of our planet Earth which is our "blue boat home" sailing through the sea of the universe. The music comes from the Welsh Hymn "Hyfrydol" written in 1844. Sail Away: A song inspired by stories of the Danish resistance who helped thousands of Danish Jews flee by boat, under cover of night, to neutral Sweden during WWII. Pleiades: The beautiful and poetic journey of two souls through the stars and constellations, filled with celestial imagery. Satellite Sky: A sleepless night of reflections on growing up in a different kind of world with the arrival of the first satellite, changing how we look at the sky - and how it looks at us - forever. Firefly Lights: A song of remembrance and profound beauty and heartbreak over the loss of a loved one. Firefly imagery was inspired by the book "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold. Vincent Cello Intro: Triple cello arrangement by Eugene Friesen Vincent: An intimate love letter to the brilliant Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh, who took his own life at the age of 37. Comet: A song of questioning life and longing for love under the night sky. Ideas Are Like Stars: A simple story of a day in the life of quiet and thoughtful man. The song was inspired by artist Joseph Cornell's mixed media box titled "Ideals Are Like Stars" at the National Gallery in Washington. The Moon's Song: Written especially for "Into The Stars" by Anne Hills, these are the Moon's thoughts as she looks down on all of us here on Earth, wondering if we will ever figure it all out and reminding us we still have a little time left. The Galaxy Song: The lighthearted, fairly accurate listing in song of celestial space facts and measurements from Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life".
