    The Sleepy Ukulele
Recorded in one day, The Sleepy Ukulele's lulling songs, from Brahms to Styne to Stephen Foster to Martin herself, are perfect for insomniacs and ukulele fans. She plays acoustic ukulele stylishly and sings.
Mary J. Martin has frequently appeared on stage in New York's Ukulele Cabaret and Boston's Ukulele Noir. She was an invited performer at the first New York Uke Fest. Sasha von BonBon, founder and leader of the longstanding Toronto burlesque troupe The Scandelles says Ms. Martin is their "Uke Diva at Large, Notorious For Blistering Led Zep Solos." The Outermost Ukulele concert series, which she produces, invites ukulele musicians to perform. A jazz violist as well, she has performed in a few subway stations and with a load of bands, among them The Dears, Dearhunter, Hooch Moon, The Royal Mountain Jamboree, and the folk noir Colossal Egos, all of Montreal. Over the streams worldwide on www.womr.org almost every Wednesday night from 8:00 to 9:00 (est), Mary’s Ukulele Show broadcasts ukulele music of all stripes and interviews with ukulele types. Ms Martin began her ukulele life in Nova Scotia. She was a member of J. Chalmers Doane's group of young uke players who toured eastern and central Canada and Vermont, made albums, and appeared on national radio and television. She is a strong believer in the ukulele's versatility. Of the Sleepy Ukulele: "The uke sounds great, and your singing [is] smoky,...sentimental but not too sweet. It's my favourite version of 'Beautiful Dreamer' ever." John Kavanaugh, composer/musician "Parlour Music" "Beautiful.... Soundtrack for a dream," John Thomas, composer
