Helmetta: the one square mile town in the great Garden State of New Jersey, USA. Helmetta is best known locally as the home of the Helme Snuff and Tobacco Factory. If you look deep in the smoke-filled air radiating from the factory's tall stacks, you will see the birthplace of MJM Records and hear the sounds of my haunting grooves as they fill the air.
Well, to start from the beginning, I was born Michael J. Maione. In 1989 I started a little Disc Jockey business called Wired for Sound DJs. After playing other artists' hits for over ten years, I figured it was time to start writing my own material. Eureka! DJ Michael J was born! I started up an independent record label called MJM Records in 2000. My studio and I reside in beautiful - well ok - little Helmetta, NJ, a small town right outside of East Brunswick. The old Helme Factory still stands, and the trains still pass along on the railroad tracks. Ok, enough about Helmetta. Let's talk about the music!
A polished mix of house and dance with the elements of trance, my music has an original sound all to its own. Toss in some abstract sounds with hard-hitting drums and bass, and I'll take you on a sophisticated journey through sound - enticing you - and making you want more! I know, it sounds like an advertisement, but if you take a listen, you'll get the idea.
I am currently selling my CDs through cdbaby.com. I also sell CDs at gigs that I perform as a DJ Entertainer. In fact, my music is being used at a local workout gym and dance center in Spotswood, NJ for various routines including step aerobics, multiple cardiovascular workouts, and multiple dance routines. "The Launch", a house track from my first release, "My World" will be used for an upcoming dance competition!
