    House Of Heavy
    House Of Heavy
80's influenced, yet modern sounding melodic metal.
House of Heavy is the collaboration between Henrik Lundberg and Mattias Wellhag. Henrik Lundberg is the bass player from Swedish band Masquerade which has released 3 CDs in Japan to date, Self Titled in 92, "Surface of Pain" in 94 and "In Disguise" in 2004. Masquerade also released another studio album called "Flux" released outside of Japan in 2001, on Metal Blade Records. Masquerade also did a 4 date tour of Japan in December of 94. Mattias Wellhag is a very talented musician and songwriter who have been singing, playing drums and guitar in numerous bands around his hometown Trollhättan for many years. Recently he’s the singer, guitarist and chief songwriter in P.I.G. Other merits include production work for Swedish band The Poodles. Henrik and Mattias met during a studio session outside of Skövde, Sweden, some fifteen years ago. Henrik was playing bass in Masquerade at the time, and Mattias was singing in a local band from Mellerud, Sweden called Straitjackets. The two became really good friends when Henrik later joined that very same band for the recording of an album that never got finished. Ever since, they've talked about how cool it would be to write some music together, just for the fun of it. Many hours were spent drinking beer and headbanging to 80:s hard rock, fantasising about putting a band together. Nothing happened, of course, until Masquerade more or less fell asleep and Straitjackets disappeared into oblivion about ten years later... It was about that time Mattias bought himself a Gibson Explorer (the coolest guitar known to man, if you ask M...) and some cheap studio equipment and started experimenting away, not really knowing what the hell he was doing... At the same time Henrik was rockin´out like a hard man in his living room creating interesting noise with his Gibson Les Paul arsenal (the coolest guitars known to man, if you ask H…). Things suddenly started sounding pretty awesome and the result of that is: House of Heavy. House of Heavy is the proof of that you can make good sounding record with little to no budget. The cd is created in Mattias and Henriks home studios without any amps or big drum sets. The cd was an experiment to se if this was possible and the sound quality is second to none. On top of that there are some pretty good songs on there to. After two years of writing and recording together (faster than the speed of light!) the self-titled debut album is, believe it or not, finished! The cd is produced by Henrik and Mattias. they have also played every single instrument and written every song on the album. Both being big fans of Def Leppard, they have recorded the song Billy’s got a gun as the cd:s only cover. Other stand out tracks includes Ride Shotgun the albums first single and video and the progressive God versus God. In September -08 HoH signed a digital distribution deal with Metal Blade and also manage to flirt their way into a world wide deal by signing on for the mighty Spiritual Beast Records in October -08, for a physical release in January 09. So there you go, and here we are... U on, or u off...? We on... we House Of Heavy!
