CANZONI PER BAMBINI, VOLUME I Canzoni Per Bambini is a collection of twenty original Italian songs for children recorded by NYC’s finest studio musicians from Sesame Street, the New York Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Broadway and Radio City Music Hall, written by Dr. Katia Moltisanti Tennyson and produced by John Gentry Tennyson, artistic director for the Italian Language & Cultural Arts Center, Centro Raccontami. This project is sponsored in part by the Italian American Committee on Education (IACE). CENTRO RACCONTAMI Centro Raccontami is an Italian Language and Cultural Arts Center founded by Dr. Katia Moltisanti Tennyson. Located in the heart of Manhattan, the center offers a variety of workshops for children and adults everyday of the week. Centro Raccontami is a non-profit organization. The mission of Centro Raccontami is to support and promote creative and dynamic workshops that connect students to authentic Italian life through people, language, art and music. Students learn to create with their hands, sing with their voices, imagine with their minds, and listen and speak to communicate. In an atmosphere of creative spontaneity, we offer native Italian instructors, educated in Italian Universities, to provide the most authentic experience in learning. At Centro Raccontami, we believe that teaching is a creative form of art. Our workshops are designed to teach Italian through the arts. Please come join us for a rich and rewarding schedule of workshops! BIOGRAPHIES DR. KATIA MOLTISANTI TENNYSON Dr. Katia Moltisanti Tennyson, founder and director of Centro Raccontami, is a native-born Italian from Ragusa, Italy. She holds a Doctoral Degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures from the University of Catania, with a specialization in Italian, Spanish and English Literatures. Dr. Tennyson is also certified in Early Childhood Teachers and Graphic Arts and works as a freelance Italian translator for various companies in New York City and Italy. She teaches Italian classes at Montclair State University, City College (The City University of New York) and at the Italian Language and Cultural Arts Center, Centro Raccontami, to children and adults of all levels. JOHN GENTRY TENNYSON Upon moving to New York City from his native Texas homeland, Houston born Tennyson immersed himself in the local jazz scene, studied jazz harmony with Richie Beirach and landed the gig with guitar legend, Al Di Meola. Performing with Richie Morales, Gumbi Ortiz, Arto Tunboycin, Rachel Z and Barry Miles while developing the Di Meola release, “Kiss My Axe”, Tennyson established himself and began developing his own sound. He began composing and recording original music that culminated in his first piano trio CD, John Tennyson's, “Real World Trio”, featuring guest artists, Randy Brecker and Dewey Redman alongside New York musical mainstays, drummer-Terry Silverlight and bassist-Tony Scherr. Following this release, Tennyson toured with Sarah Brightman on the “Music of the Night” symphonic concert tour, Sophie B. Hawkins-as her Musical Director on the “Tongues and Tails” tour and Pop icon, Martika on “Martika’s Kitchen”. Soon after, Les Paul learned of Tennyson and he became a featured performer with Les at the Iridium Jazz Club for seven years. The list of artists after that gig grew to include many jazz legends-Mel Lewis, Grady Tate, Joe Morello, Jeff Hirschfield, Terri Lyne Carrington, Bucky Pizarelli, Howard Alden, Monty Alexander, Tom Harrell, Hiram Bullock, Will Lee, Chuck Rainey, Matt “Guitar” Murphy, Rodney Jones, Chuck Loeb, Mark O’Connor, Mark Feldman, Todd Reynolds, Chip Jackson, Kermit Driscoll, Lonnie Plaxico, Eddie Gomez and John Patitucci.
