Self-described "full contact rock", Portland, Oregon rock quartet Supernaut – sounding like a breed of The Ramones, Motorhead, and Cheap Trick – come out of the gates pulling no punches with "Burning Through The Motions".
This is what All Music Guide had to say about "Burning Through the Motions":
"Supernaut may not outwardly revel in the metal power their name implies (as in that little Black Sabbath ditty), but regardless, they sure do kick a lot of ass. Pabst-drenched and with a hardened edge, Burning Through the Motions is a revitalizing blast of guitar-powered excellence and jean-jacket coolness. Commanded by the chain-smoking vocals of ex-Daylights frontman Scott Chapin, Supernaut rock hard with an invigorating balance of post-grunge muscle, punk grit, roguish attitude, and oh yeah, all these tight little hooks that attach directly to the brain. There's a certain everyday-guy kind of appeal that shines through the group's toughness, and a song like "Burn Out the Sun" easily showcases their vulnerability without ever losing that defiant edge. The follow-up to 2005’ "Livid Vol. 1" EP, "Burning Through The Motions" has more punch, more drive, and more bite. It realizes the potential of the band – the power of their live show and the might of their lyrics – in a potent package.
But, who is Supernaut?
Supernaut is fronted by Scott Chapin, former front man for The Daylights, a band that earned a devoted following throughout the West Coast before disbanding when members decided to pursue other endeavors.
Always writing and recording, Chapin decided it was time to start another band a few years later and enlisted friends Basil (drummer), from the Northwest's most lively, energetic, and infamous band, Sweaty Nipples. Ryan Schmidt (guitar), who played with regional favorites Molly Cliff, The Film, and with Chapin in The Daylights. And So-Cal transplant Mike Lee (bass), who puts a tremendous thump into Supernaut's screaming, sing-along anthems.
The band went into a friend’s studio, recorded their debut EP, and in 2005, local label In Music We Trust Records released "Livid Vol. 1".
Following the album’s release and regional touring in support of the record, bassist Mike Lee would leave Supernaut to play in a metal band.
Another longtime friend, Jason Lee, would step in on bass and the band recorded what would become "Burning Through The Motions".
And, here we are.
"Burning Through the Motion" is eleven loud, highly melodic, fierce rock songs that prove rock isn’t dead, nor is music that can kick as your ass – but still get you to sing along.
