notes
Syncopation is Boston's new vocal sensation!! A jazz vocal quartet consisting of Tsunenori Lee Abe, Christy Bluhm, Jeremy Ragsdale and Christine Fawson, Syncopation is entertaining audiences all over the world with their hip arrangemnets of standard and original jazz tunes.
On their first album, 'A New Dance' Syncopation sings a wide variety of material including a version of Rodgers and Hart's 'My Romance'and Cyndi Lauper's 'Time After Time.' Backed up by a powerful rhythm section and a tight horn section, Syncopation's first album is full of energy!
If you like Manhatten Transfer, you will love this new, young vocal quartet.

A Great Listen!
author: Scott RodgersI'm glad you made your CD available online. CD Baby worked great -- the CD showed up in a few days. Love the music....I'll be ready for what ever you come up with next as well. Keep groovin'
Preferred Christmas music you played at WBUR benefit 2003
author: Carolyn FullerI bought this CD because it is the only one you have created but I wanted the music you played and sang at the WBUR Rosie's Place benefit on December 7, 2003.
Great voices, Great arrangements -
author: HelenNice creativity, exceptional talent, delightful listening.
I heard one track and knew I had to buy it.
author: Mark HanzelWhile driving home from work, our local jazz station played Track 1, You Don't Know What Love Is. The harmonies were so gorgeous and so tight, and the arrangement so full of energy and emotion. I missed the name of the group and the CD, but phoned the station as soon as I got home to get it. These four people sing together with amazing chemistry. Every track is a pleasure, but I'm particulary enamored with #7, Both Sides Now. (It just edged out Cassandra Wilson and Pat Martino for my favorite rendition of that song.) If Joni Mitchell has heard it, I'm sure she's flattered. I can't wait for an opportunity to hear Syncopation in concert.
very enjoyable
author: pauline landmesserI am happy to say, I loved this cd. the vocalists have excellent pitch, and the arrangements were very well thought out and executed. Their voices all have very clear tone and blend beautifully. I am impressed by the combination of standard jazz tunes, pop and folk tunes, all translated well into thier arrangements. If I had a criticism (and it's really just a suggestion) I would say this young, emerging group only needs a little more relaxation and enthusiasm, but that comes with time and confidence. All in all, they are an excellent vocal ensemble. I can't wait for their next release. I hope it has more songs on it this time, even if it costs a little more. pauline landmesser; artist. www.geocities.com/steem4art
Such young voices, with such a big sound...
author: Ryan GI purchased this CD after hearing Syncopation live at a show in Annapolis, MD. Wow, what a sound! Great tight harmonies, great lead vocals no matter who is singing the melody, and amazing orchestration. I was thoroughly impressed with the rhythm, dynamics, intonation, and blend. For a group of college-aged adults that have only been together for a short while they make their complex jazz arrangements seem like nursery rhymes with their smooth deliverance of each piece. You make ask yourself, after you purchase the CD, where do they obtain all their amazing charts? Look no further then the bass, Tsunenori ‘Lee’ Abe. If you ever have the chance to speak with them, you will also have the pleasure of meeting some of the finest humblest musicians I’ve ever come across; they welcome everyone with open arms. I often find myself asking, is all the sound coming from those four? And the answer is yes. Wow! What a group! The sound clips here on cdbaby.com do not give any justice to their true sound. Buy this CD; if you have any real taste in good music you will not be dissatisfied.
